Which of the following pre-nursery is the best? (Yew Chung, Keen Mind, Kingston

My son has been admitted to Yew Chung's afternoon class.  I've visited Yew Chung and found the environment quite good.  Just not too sure if the curriculum is too "playful"?  Does pre-nursery class have books/ homework?  Of course I want my son to have a happy kinder life yet I also wish him to be competent enough when he proceeds to K1.

A lot of parents also think that Keen Mind's pre-nursery is good and it seems that the curriculum is not easy as there'll be homework/ worksheets/ flash cards...?

I'm also considering Kingston/ Tutor Time, just would like my son to have better language exposure.   But for these 2 I'll just let my son study 1-2 years and change to a traditional kinder afterwards...

Really a headache.... Any good experience to share?  Thanks!!

Re: Which of the following pre-nursery is the best? (Yew Chung, Keen Mind, King

angelhair,
I don't have experience of the kinder you mentioned, however, I could share my feeling.

1) From the school you mentioned, it seems that you would like your son to be exposure to English & Mandarin. However, I remember I called Yew Chung if they provided Eng + Mand for pre-n last year, and the receiver said the class is Eng + Cant. Therefore, if you consider Eng+Mand, it is better to confirm (or it has been changed this year)

2) I heard some good comments for Kingston, esp for Mandarin training.

3) For Keen-mind, I heard the mobility of Eng teacher is high.

4) If you would like to change back to local kinder later, I think pre-n in real inter is better as it could provide better exposure on English. I prefer inter kinder as all teacher are communicated in English. Therefore exposure on English is not limited at "classroom"

5) In addition, if you will be back to local kinder, why don't you consider those pre-n teach Eng mainly?

Re: Which of the following pre-nursery is the best? (Yew Chung, Keen Mind, King

Thanks sks for your sharing

You're right.  I'd prefer my son to be fluent in Eng+Mandarin+Cant.  I hope that with proper Mandarin training, my son can not only speak but can also write better Chinese.  I find that nowadays a lot of those young people can't even writh fluet Chinese...(that's what I actually encounter in office)

Yes, I know that Yew Chung offers only Eng+Cant in PN.  But as my son is also attending Eng & Mandarin playgroup on Sat, so I'm struggling among 2 options:
1.  Eng+Mandarin both in PN & Sat playgroup, teach Cant only at home (by my hubby & family... actually I speak Eng with my son)
2.  Eng+Cant in PN, Eng+Mandarin in Sat playgroup

However, I'm not sure if Int'l kinder is too "playful" so my son might be not competent enough to change back to traditional kinder... I heard that Keen Mind PN already teaches K1 curriculum!

I don't know if I worry too much.  However, the current educational system is like a "lucky draw", and my hubby's primary school is not good, so I just want my son to be competent enough so at least he can have other choices and enter the private primary schools....
