Re: 直資學校的另一面

Please note that international style of education is "free" in expressing new ideas, encourage creativity and innovations but not "free" in discipline. The discipline of most of the international schools are much better than local schools. The behaviour and discipline of those western kids are in generally even better than Chinese kids.

This is absolutely true because one can easily enjoy the benefit when switching to a much better education system from a poor system but not vice versa.
***and free/ creative thinking has no conflict, as you can see many famous schools can achieve both***
I don't think so. Traditional schools are only good in producing the "hands or legs" but not the "brain", the "followers" but not the "leaders", "local professions' but not the "global professions"...etc.
Not only me has this view, you may notice that there were many famous CEOs of Hong Kong had said this kind of view in the public media including TV, radio, newspapers and journals (I forgot exactly their names)

I can see many cases from traditonal to international quite sucessfully, but I doubt on the contrary. Peraonally, I prefer tradional first and free later (better in secondary higher, or college). Of course, should depends on your kid's character and parent's control...traditional way of learning and free/ creative thinking has no conflict, as you can see many famous schools can achieve both. I am not that pessimistic about HK traditonal education system when I see its general ranking on the global comparison list every year. Some friends of mine gradutated from local schools are brillient leaders of global firms now. And, I know some failure cases with the western/ free educaiton.
I think some local schools can well balance the traditonal and free way of education, no matter it is SS or DSS. I prefer tradional for kids in their early age because Chinese Culture/ language can easily be mastered by traditonal way of teaching. I think parents want their kids learning good Chinese otherwise better to study overseas.
After all, not all the people should be trained to be CEO, every kid has their talent. So, be careful to pick a school for your kid. |
