DGJS 1st Interview

3 girls from CCKG are sitting in the group next to mine which is using english  for interview. My group has SPN & related person since I saw the teacher said hello to the girl but her mom keep starring to my girl.

我個女只係話講故事同玩puzzles,佢話砌咗我出嚟,但係太'青見',老師都唔識睇,要佢慢慢解釋 .

不過佢真係好西利,佢一係hall到見到我,就即刻好大聲講'媽咪,老師無比糖我呀!"當時老師仲係企係佢隔離!

I heard that few children were brought out of the interview earlier [I guess it was because they cried/mis-behaved in the process.].  

It looks like other than "intellectual interview," the children's behaviour was part of the filtering process.

My daughter said there were a lot of staircase to walk in the whole interview -- perhaps a fitness check as well during this interview.

hi Chuppy,

Your daughter had her interview in Eng or in Cantonese? I never think of to put down Eng as her 1st language so that the interview will be conducted in Eng. From BK forum, seems to me many girls were conducted in Eng like those CCKG ones, so will that have higher chance to get admitted?

My girl said the teacher did not ask her any questions but only watched a video in Cantonese and re-tell part of the story in Cantonese.

I was given a half sheet of A4 paper fromt he registration desk, saying that we shall receive the result (admit or not) before 21 Dec, didn't mention there will be 2nd intv or not.
As I stated above, I don't think outsider has much chance, they have a lot of Old girls' girl and CCKG students to be admitted.
My girl said besides retelling story, writing down her chinese name, doing some artwork (stick the ball on the picture), the teacher also asked them to count from 1-100.

About 1st interview, 接籠故事, what is it exactly? Will the teacher tell the story (7-pages) first and then ask the girls take turn to re-tell the story again one page after one page?  

If you choose english as medium, it means the girl will re-tell the story in english? right?

I also heard from my daughter that 2 girls in her group were taken out earlier because they are crying. The first girl cry when the teacher told them to write the Chinese name (the girl did not know how to write).  The second girl cry because she doesn't know how to tell the story.

I think they varied the formats of interviews among different groups this year. Besides telling a story in a queue, my girl had to write her name, count and write the number of birds in a picture on a test paper.

My daughter told me she got 0 mark for the story telling thing while her partner got 7 marks.

I thought she had finished at stage 1 and failed to proceed to higher stages.

She said she didn't like this school because the teacher had given her too many 'classwork' and asked too many questions during interview.

又唔好咁講, 我都同你一樣咁天真去考, 當見識下, DGJS算係全港至top既學校, 俾個女去試下知道人地既程度, 開下眼界囉.
我女返屋企都自己拎張白紙寫住個S字再用間尺貼起佢扮果朝幫手帶佢地行既helper呀!

不過我個女亦係好"天真", 唔識睇人地叻過自己, 依然係好無根據咁有無限自信.

唯獨一樣佢有自知之明: 佢表示鍾意男女校多過女校, 因為in全女校時, 其他人"太斯文"!

又唔好咁話自己,其實每年都有topics討論/推測收生標準。就算著晒某幼稚園校服去in,並唔代表一定收嘅,當中都有連2nd interview嘅機會都冇。而一d冇背景/關係嘅,到最後能夠順利考入亦大有人在。話唔定你囡囡將會係其中一位呢!

我真係冇奢望過, 亦只係當見識見識. 而當日係禮堂睇video, 亦真係見識到dg 學生d英文真係讀得好好聽, 好過另外兩位司儀 (係咪叫潘忠明? 女的係潘芳芳 ?)

亦幸好沒跟另外的學校撞時間, 否則去了dg, 更浪費其他機會.

經過今次DGJS interview, 我有好深的感受, 希望可以同各位家長分享一下!

由始至終, 我都沒有抱任何祈望可以入到呢間學校, 自問不是專業人仕, 不是富有家庭, 不是名人高官, 亦不是全職母親, 女兒亦不是十分出眾, 報名志在參與/買一個希望/吸取一個經驗, 我不是扮清高, 如果奇蹟地收左小女, 我都會開心到訓唔著!

面試過後, 我很不開心(之前我沒有想過我會唔開心), 不是因為女兒的表現, 亦不是因為準備不足, 而是苦惱於我對女兒的能力要求...應該在哪一點劃上準則!

在part one, 要寫上中文姓名時, 小女未能完成, 我之前已有教她寫自己個名, 不是為了什麼interview, 只是認為她需要識寫自己個名, 可是她力有不逮, 因為她的"姓"筆劃頗多,裝字亦頗難, 所以我個人認為可以慢慢去練, 沒有迫她...結果令她在interview task 中做不到!

我好責備我自己,我是一個不合格的媽媽, 一些最基本的能力我都忽略, 反思:是我抹煞我女兒的機會!!! 是我拖慢我女兒的能力發展!!! 是我令我的女兒追不上"這個社會"的"標準程度" 我究竟在"快樂童年"和"有壓力才有進步"這條線上怎去決擇平衡點???? (十分苦惱)

不過, 當然一切已成定局, 一切已過去, 我唔開心也無補於事, 我要為我的女兒向前看, 她不能寫自己的名字也表示唔開心, 我要做的不是責備, 而是教她如何從經驗中去學習(作為父母自己都要學習) : (1) 既然唔識, 就要多練習, 要成功就要付出努力, 要付出努力就要減少玩玩具的時間 (2) 變通-如果個"姓"難寫, 就先寫左你另外兩個名字先啦, 將來你會測驗考試默書, 捨難取易 (3) .....

經過interview, 我更了解自己女兒的強弱之處, 從中去想方法去develop the strength and remedy the weakness

各位父母, 一同努力 !!!!
