Re: 啓思小學附屬幼稚園(九龍塘牛津道)
Dear all,
My elder son is currently a K3 student of Creative. He loves to go to school very much.
My son used to be a passive and shy little boy before he went this school for K1. He was then in Yew Chung. He didn't like Yew Chung at all because of his character and he needed encouragement and warm up before he would enjoy himself (which was lacking in Yew Chung since the teacher needed to take care of too many children). The first time he entered this kinder was on the interview day and he had actually amazed me. He loved the school, he was willing to hold the hand of the teacher who brought him to the interview room without sticking to me/my husband. This was very unusual for him. He also started playing toys himself and he even answered the teacher's questions and asked questions himself. My observations were that the environment was good and the teachers were kind and cheerful. Seeing his attitude towards this school, I have no hesitation to enrol him to this school.
My son has been in the p.m. class since K1. There are about 20 students in the class, much less than in a.m. class (about 30) and this is one of the reasons I prefer to place him in the p.m. class so that the teacher can have more time to care for him.
The teachers and staff in Creative are caring and nice and patient. There are about 3 parents' days each year. First time in late Oct after the start of school to let the parents know how their kids are doing at school (whether they get use to the environment etc), the second in Jan for the 1st sem report and the third in July for the 2nd sem report. The teachers always keep good contact with the parents (for me at least). I never fail to find the teachers whenever I need to contact them and they always take the initiative to tell me something about my son at school, how's he doing recently etc. Also, each time when I was at school with my son, the teachers passed by had never failed to greet me and my son with a warm smile and by calling me son's name. Of course, one of the reasons is that this is not a kinder with many many classes. But still I was very impressed by this. Another thing I like this school is that there is always a chance for every child to perform on stage individually every year (of course you may choose not to perform). This helps to foster the confidence of the child and give him a chance to stand in front of the audience.
For K1, there is no writing only drawing of lines and curves and some worksheets for parent and child to complete together every Friday. There will be English class conducted by NET every week but no Putonghua class
For K2, they will need to do homework everyday, one Chinese and one English or math (writing number). For English and Putonghua class, once every week.
In K3, also homework everyday and start writing sentences, both Chin (e.g I love papa and mama)and Eng (e.g. I have an apple).
My son can now communicate in Eng and Putonghua (and of course Cantonese). He is very willing to express his ideas in class, in Eng, Putonghua and Cantonese. I have from time to time brought him to school and I have seen him talking to his Eng teacher and Putonghua teacher without fear (remember he used to be very passive and shy).
My younger son will have his interview for K1 this coming Sat and I will have no hesitation to let him join this kinder if he is being accepted.
For the school fee, I have made a calculation. The average monthly fee (including all misc and book and stationery fees-around $1,2xx each term) is about $2,8xx, not the most expensive kinder though not cheap.
