Woodland Montessori School (Caine Road),pls comment! Thanks!

Any comment? good or not? how many students in a class? Are the teacher nice? Is it a long queue to wait for a seat?

Hi ,

My 4 years old son studied at this school, I must say it is an excellent school!!! It is international oriented and heavily focused on independent , building self confident and socialising with other children, they also learn alot on numbers/letters/spatial reasoning by playing montessori toys.

If you are looking for a school to "spoon fed" your child and to hold their hands every where and taking them to the toilets- then this is NOT your kind of school as I know some parents founded the teachers don't pay close attension - but this is not true they are observing.

My son had some slight learning difficulties and very shy, but once in that school after 1 month, things completely change, he was extremely independent and social skills improved tremendously. He really emjoyed it! What's more is not just playing, but they were actually learning numbers one to twenty and telling me the solar systems planets in a song when he was only 3 years old! It is an incredible teaching method and would recommend it to anyone. The only thing is that it doesn't have primary school (only upto P2).

Visit the school, we didn't have a very long waiting list, but I guess we got in a good timing.

Thank you very much for your sharing.  I'd like to know how many children in a class?  

I heard that Montessori method suggests to put children with different age together in one class. Is it the same situation in Woodland?

I know that Montessori method emphasizes on self-directed learning, could u share with me the format of the their lessons? Do their teachers know the children well and do they teach English actively?

Since the children will promote to primary school when they reach 5. Is that the students there who are 5 or above is very few?

For K1, from what I remembered last year, it was HK$5,700 per month, not cheap.  It's a good school if your kids' first language are not English, and you really want them to be fluently speak the language and you can really afford the money, as most of the kids will go to international school after.  I put my older son to this school for playgroup and stepping stone class.  I was paying HK$ 2,900 per month for three sections per week and 2-hour per each section. Now I am also let my second son to attend the playgroup, twice a week as well for HK$2,400 per month.  

Since my sons' first language is English and I would like them to learn good Chinese, I've switched my older son to KCS, my second son will follow afterward in Sep 2006.

Anyone have experience with the Woodland Montessori in Repulse Bay ?  How does this one compare to the one on Caine road ?  Thanks.

I am also interested in comparing Woodland Montessori to Small World Christian Kindergarten as well.  Please share your thoughts if you have experience with both of these schools.  Thanks a lot !

Hi AJ Mom,

Is your son studying in the one opposite to Caritas or the one opposite to Dr. Chan Yuen Sang?

Is the waiting list long? And is the school clean? I suppose it's not as clean as traditional nursery where there are a lot of amahs. But as far as u observe, do the children get ill like getting cold or flu easily? Cos my daughter got ill very often when she studied nursery in Lingnan.
