SJS vs RC? Any school bus from TKO to Fotan?

My daughter got the place in SJS already and just got the interview offer from RC this Thursday.  Does anybody give me some advice that which one is better?   So far I know no school bus service provided from SJS travelling from TKO to Fotan.  It is a great problem for me.

I think no school is better than the other.  They all have their weak and strong points.  If you have been to both schools, then surely you will notice that RC's campus is very new and the facilities there are fantastic.  In that sense, SJS is beyond compared.  How you decide on choosing a school for your child is a very personal choice so it is really hard to say.  If your main concern is on the Chinese side, then no doubt RC is 'better'.  Although SJS now has everyday Mandarin classes for all levels, there is still a long way to catch up.

I just wonder why TKO is one SJS's catchment zones?

Happy situation. It cannot be too bad choosing either one.
RC is new. Nice campus, high morale, more Chinese.
SJS is old. Long history, good track record, less Chinese.
I think I would not know which one to choose either. But most people like schools with longer history than anything else, although RC has proved to be a good school so far.
I think I still tend to choose SJS. Having said that even if I consider RC "not as good", it is indeed not too "far behind".

Both RC and SJS are very good schools.  We have made a very hard decision in Apr when SJS suddenly accepted our application right after we have paid the deposit to RC.  Finally, we chose SJS because we think SJS is having longer history and proven record.  We think RC is equally good school as SJS.   RC is the pioneer in IB, and they are doing so good to impliment IB nicely.  They have shown a very good example to all other ESF school on how to be a authorized IB school.  Till today, we are still asking the same question, and we do not know if we would chose RC if we could choose again.  

Try to consider not on the objective quality of both schools as they are equally good, but more subjectivly and emotionally, personally....  any reason but not on the basic of the schools.  

I lived in TKO, but I have moved from to Shatin... I cannot find an acceptable way to SJS from TKO.  I checked different ways from TKO to RC or SJS, non of the way I think is good; either take too long or just too expensive.  RC School bus service is covering TKO, but too early...pick up at about 7:10am, you can check the website of RC, you will see the time table and the routing.  The bus company informed us that the routing and time table have not been fixed , but more or less will be like that.    Or you may try to gather other TKO parents and see if you can hire a small bus, some private bus company may cater this need.  I see some BK parents are sharing the same situation as yours.

SJS bus service will only cover the SJS catchment area as you might know that.  

After the orientation day, how do you feel about SJS?  Any problem??  any hesitation??  I think the situation is fixed and you might have explained to your daughter that she will study in SJS.  She might have prepared herself.  Try to consider also her feeling and you can try to ask her about both school.  Go to have the interview first, then ask your daughter afterwards, she might give you the answer.  At the end, she is the one study in the school, her thought should be respected.  Do not think she is too small to make her decision.  

Which class will your daughter in?  Are you Abcaus student?

Hi, thanks everyone for the sharing.  My daughter is(becoming 'was') the K2 of Abacus.  

I am quite satisfactory with the atmosphere of SJS so far.  She is going to join the class 1A.  Any 1A parents here?  

I really want to move to Shatin to live later due to the transportation.  Any parents want to find a school bus together from TKO to SJS?

It is a really hard time for me to choose between SJS and RC.

According to pervious experience, students who went to KJS or SJS or other ESF in P1 can try to apply CWB in P2.  Mostly will be accepted.  Or you may also knew it.  So may you be patient for 1 year.  But they also said this transfer can only apply between ESF, but not ESF <=> RC.  So if you decided to go RC, you'd better moved.  

I knew some Abacus/SJS parents decided to stay in TKO or Sai Kung without moving to Shatin.   

This might be a point for your consideration.

there are actually more Abacus students who has been admitted by CWBS moved away from HK, so what happen to those vacanies? May be those TKO Parents who kids have been admitted to SJS can cross check on it.

For those Abacus parents (and actually most ESF kinder parents), too sad our kids will not have graduation ceremony on next Friday, as I don't think school will resume next friday, but only secondary school will also suspend classes next week....

I found a lot of good reputation about SJS.  Maybe it is a good luck for my daughter and I think we will stay in SJS and will not change to CWB.  But the problem is no school bus.  Any parents wants to join to go to SJS, pls pm me.

It is a pity that no graduation ceremony for the Abacus children.  It seems that they suddenly stop everything.  They cannot say goodbye to everyone.

They have sent a note said that they will do a short graduation ceremony next Friday morning, if EDB will resume school on that day. But looks like quite impossible now..... so even the Abacus principal who is leaving after this term can't say goodbye to everyone..... so sad.....
