可唔以比D意見我

剛收到RC電話通知收我個仔讀 Year 1, 好開心但又有好多concerns, 好希望有人可以比D意見比我。  一心只係想仔仔入RC, 所以上年9月只係apply呢一間, 但後黎知道competition好大, 於是11月左右報埋CAIS 亦即時收左交左deposit。到RC interview後仔仔只係waiting list, 於是一心諗住讀CAIS, 點知RC依家話收。

鍾意RC係因為 :
佢行IB,  all-round education 由Year 1 開始一路上
繁体中文, 中文程度係國際學校黎講算好好

開頭簡CAIS 都有hestitation, 因為佢唔出名, 成日聽人講佢D中學生品行麻麻, 考大學成績又唔係好好, 但一路落黎都聽到關於CAIS好既野, 而佢今年開始中文堂日日都有, 所以中文程度都應該好左, 可惜頌係用簡体字

而location 亦係我另一個concern。我住太子, 如果返CAIS 我每朝可以車佢返學, 放學亦可以婆婆去接佢, 但返RC就只可以搭校車, 頌有D路線好似都要坐幾耐, 驚日日咁返學放學佢會好赲。老公成日返對仔仔要去咁遠返學, 亦唔會為左仔女既學校而搬屋, 但係仔女既學校係會影響佢未來12年讀書生涯, 我唔想自己做錯決定(因為老公唔會同我傾)而影響D仔女。

我仲有1個細女1歲, 如果哥哥讀RC, 到時佢考apply year 1 就有priority。
我另一個諗法係比仔仔係CAIS 讀primary, 到中學 or year 4/5 再幫佢轉ESF/RC, 到時阿妹就一齊apply Year 1 。  但到時又唔知難唔難考呢 ??

其實CAIS係唔係已經好好, 我唔應該再想太多呢 ??  但佢既中學又..


希望各位可以比D意見我, 唔該哂 !

妳o既主要問題好似唔係邊間學校好d；而係妳無法說服妳老公比妳揀間遠d而佢又唔想搬屋。
男人一百個有99.5個都係以為自己好叻，佢o既決定永遠俾人正確(包括我自己都係)。
即使妳今日決定係點(妳好似prefer RC)，妳都無法證實係最正確；但係返學時間長左係鐵一般事實，好o既妳未必即時見到；唔好o既就立竿見影...到時兩公婆隔日開火仲大鑊。
我雖是RC家長都唔敢指手畫腳妳o既家事；我只敢建議妳好好同老公傾吓；再集體決定，一起承擔結果。
唔值得為左小朋友讀書問題搞到家無寧日。

我自己雖然住得遠，但計劃等埋細佬入埋去先搬近d學校。呢點我認同妳老公想法，但我選擇搬屋作妥協。

多謝你既回應，有時兩個人想法唔同真係無好講，想搵個人商量下都無。

其實CAIS 都有我想要既，例如：
小班D（18 students per class vs 28 students）
基督教學校，係仔仔道德及行為上應有正面幫助

只不過RC係我target school ,結果比仔仔考到都要放棄好似好可惜，希望唔好做錯決定影響2個細路喇！

If I was you, I'll choose RC because the school is good all-rounded training for the children.
But you know the rel.... background have most of idols and much more time in bible story, bible reverse......And respect the christian more....
Even your child is excellent but they would be choose the chris.....ones for the movies stars or leader. (or a little mark for them)
Even though you pay much money to donation. In every year they've 2 or 3 times donation to worldwide or.....
Nearly, CAIS was a new land from HK GOV. They'll make some policy later to Parents to buy LEVY or detune....or ask to church.
So, you may consideration.
Many parent is waiting ESF and studied in int'l school in many years. Why! not only tuition fee problem.

Hi thankful,

Tks for your advice.  I am still waiting the reply from the school bus provider on the travelling time from our home to school.  I guess it takes 45 mins.

45 mins. is nothing if you think RC is worth going.  Lots of kids in Hong Kong (including mine) are taking longer journey.  Most kids love riding on school buses coz they make friends that way too.

Actually, I have one more concern & would like to have your opinion.

The mother tongue of my son is Cantonese, and he was studied in bilingual class of a local kindergarten for 3 years.  I am scare that he has problem to get into a English speaking environment in RC.  Will RC provide any assistance if teachers found students get problem to in class ?  I am afraid that teacher cannot take care all the students as there's 28 pupils in one class.  Maybe I am thinking too much, but since my son is not really very smart, so...

If you are thinking about the language in RC, this should not be your concern.  Look at RC website, they would have to take 50% students whose parents are local residents.  That means you would not be the only one that is facing this problem.  In addition, your son would have passed english proficiency in the interview for them to put him on the waiting list.

Worst case scenario is that they put him in ESL, nothing to worry about.

其實而家係 "地點" 問題, 定係 "語文" 問題呀 ?
RC 同 CAIS 都唔係 bilingual, 都係用英文教.
既然你有憂慮, 不如去 CAIS 啦, 起碼近 D, 少一樣煩.

尋日有人話唔好；妳就忐忑不安；
今日有人話好；妳又信心爆棚；
其實學校間間都有好有唔好；視乎妳想要d乜；
仲有，學校唔係幫妳教仔；教得唔好；千祈咪話:
老公話唔關我事；老婆揀o既；
老婆話唔關我事；BKd家長叫我揀o既；
BKd家長唔關我事；我講吓之嘛!

BTW, if you think RC is your target and now you have got and offer, go for it. Why still hesitate?
Travelling by School Bus from Prince Edward to RC is never a concern. As Mighty said, travelling by school bus is a very good chance to make friends in other classes. It is really a good experience for children developing their social skills. Simply ask your husband to shut up on this matter.
If not, ask your helper to take MTR or even take taxi.
Most RC children are from Local Families and Cantonese are their mother tongue. Most of them have no problem in the English environment. The other children can, why not your son?

This is soooo true.  Just go with the school that you like, there's never guarantee what is the "best" for a young child anyways.  If you are comfortable with the school, then go for it.

Don't worry too much!
For language, kids could adapt it anyway.  My boy has improved gradually in the past year (year one) and I am sure he could deal with it in the future.
For transportation, we take bus everyday from East Kowloon.  It's fine.  School bus of course is a very good choice (but not my son >o<).
Go for it and explore the new place with your kid!
