絕對同意, 我常覺得小朋友其實已不知不覺地為自己選擇了一條適合他的路, I am also top management of a multinational company and my husband also in management, my son has 2 native languages, but he's still 百無, haha, really don't know how to play this game!
Actually I think this is a really stupid and unfair game. Why some schools can select their students but some can't? Why all the ed"good' and reputable schools can turn into different systems and the others cannot? The government advertised that the lucky draw is to encourage fairness as education should apply to all on a fair basis. Then why the calculation of points? Isn't it not fair already for the unprivileged ones? I can still understand having another kid in the same school is more convenient for the parents for taking them to school, but what about the parents being old boy / old girl? or the siblings have already graduated? What is it to do with the kid that is going to study in that school? What is practicing now is totally the opposite of what they claimed. At the same time, there are a lot of backdoors and relationships going on. We heard a lot and seen a lot. If you had no relationship and your kid is just average then basically you are doomed. Also, all schools look for the same type of students - smart, outgoing outspoken aggressive etc, does it mean that the quiet and shy ones deserve no chance? Only extroverts will succeed?? Look, the kids are only 5 years old and what do they know? They should be having fun, getting to know themselves etc, shouldn't be burying the head among books or flash cards. I have seen kids who were problem kids when they were young but later turned into doctors lawyers etc. While some kids were "smart" kids when they were young but ended up being average. It's too early to deprive the chances that they deserve. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates also are geeks but they are super successful. Weird HK education system. I wanted to let my son learn more Chinese so we stayed in HK, it looks like we should leave HK earlier than I thought............
Sorry for being so opinionated, just want to vent it out as I am also one of the failure parent after working so hard, but I have to admit that I didn't force my son too much and he had a happy life in the past 5 years hehe However, after going through the interview process then I start questioning myself haha
