Thanks for your understanding.  It is true that parents should always refer to the official information from the school concerning the available DP seats and the seats available thru allocation when EDB released them.

Agree with you, no ones care about the calculations and it is hard for us to keep track with the change of seats year by year......

Just to clarify, for primary schools' allocation, 2 seats per class is the buffer for small class (25 per class) where 3 seats per class is allowed for those still running under big class (30 students per class).

No problem.  You are right, 34 students per class has been set by EDB for the time being.  However, when I referred to both school websites of Sacred Heart Canossian College and Heep Yunn School before, the total number of SHCC S1 students for 2011-2012 is 215.  See the link below.

Maybe some adjustments had been done thereafter.  Anyway, it isn't a big deal because parents should refer to the number of seats officially announced by EDB every year.  It seems nobody cares for the calculations.

Sorry Redkoni, I am afraid you thought I am picking on you but I am really not!  Hope you don't mind that I am just trying to provide more accurate information so please accept my apology as you happen to be replying in my "expertise"

First of all, although the max number of seats for S1 is 36 last year, the total number of seats for allocation is not 36 per class, but it should be 34 per class according to rule set by EDB.  This is the same for all gov't and gov't aided schools.  The 2 seats per class is the little buffer EDB allowed for these schools ( I am not sure if this is open to public......)

So, for the case of SHCC, the calculation should be like this (sorry that I am copying the Chinese texts from you so hopefully more parents can understand):

嘉諾撒聖心書院
2011-2012 S1 6班 每班36人 全級共216人
分配位 = 6班 每班34人  共204人

自行分配 = 204*30% = 61  

留班位 = 5

直屬保留位 = (204-61-5)*85% = 117
非保留位 = (204-61-5)*15% = 21

甲部 = 21*10% = 2
乙部 = 21*90% = 19 (中西區 2 + 南區 17)

所以乙部
中西區校網: 聖心的非保留位=2, 直屬保留位=117
   南區校網: 聖心的非保留位=17

Similar calculations applied to the case of Heep Yunn, where 自行分配 should be 51 seats out of 170 allocatable seats.

因為香官與及南官的聯繫中學是英皇,金文泰及庇理羅士, 香官得一班, 實力估計稍弱, 如果在南官能夠保得住Band1, 假設2012學位不變, 最差情況只會25人抽英皇的12個聯繫保留位, 何況必定有人於自行和直資,甚至於甲部提早離場, 即是少至25人, 令抽中英皇機會提高.  由於必須要第一志願選聯繫中學, 才可抽該中學的聯繫保留位, 如果你是女仔又覺得屬Band1, 你九成九會揀庇理羅士, 如果你是男仔又覺得屬Band1, 你九成會揀英皇, 如果你覺得屬Band1, 又能夠括出去揀金文泰, 邊有Band1同你爭, 就算只有1個聯繫保留位都應該坐定笠六, 何況有4個!  純屬個人主觀推測, 恕不負責.

St Louis 小學雖然是私校, 但中學並不是直資或私校, 可以從自行分配階段報名, 直資可考慮聖保羅書院.

總括來說，升中派位真是好難估好痛苦，世事無絕對。我由小一開始留意升中形勢，由這幾年的派位以男女不分性別計、又以師兄成績計、又每班每年減2個學額、又微調、英中變有一班中中、中中又有英文班但要面對年年分班、到現在的縮班，仲用直資政策、真是痛苦!
再來一個自行2個機會申請學額，玩面試操練+幾年來的課外活動。

抽獎: (170以今年入學計-54)x85%保留位=99人

收唔足99人? 是否除自行走咗外，唔足夠B1+2呢? ...

即是全收 BAND 1＆2. 只是不收 BAND 3.
