Dear All Parent;

How old of kid for taking KET/PET exam?

My P.1 kid requested KET/PET exam in 2010-11.

His Flyer result is good with high mark in 2010-03.
He can finish KET testing paper in hour with 90% correct.

He study in general primary school without any course or training.

He loves English and better than me.
He can watch program without sub-tittle bar.

What age is suitable for KET/PET?

I think KET easy for P1 or P2 kid.
He is writing a copy book for hand writing training.
I refused the PET for him.
KET is final exam in English course for him.

No different, I purchased the book in China about RMB @23~24. (KET & PET)

恭喜, your kid get pass in Flyer.
For some F.1 place, KET is min standard  for English, plus other language cert and HK team in activity.

P1 or P2's Flyer is recommened for english school.
My kid told me, some of classmate will take KET on 2010-05.
In my point, I am not suggusted P1  take Flyer or KET and P2 take KET/PET.
But, his school is recommended kid take exam and result is counted and filed in personal file.
Due to my kid love english & other language, therefore I agreed for KET in P2. and PET/FCE in P4/5.
And take other language exam in P3/4.
But all cert are useless for my kid in F1 place just for filing.
His school is 12 years from P1 to F6/7 and no TSA result.
If you take DSS or private place, please consider the MORE external exam is recommended by school.
On the other hand, I am not understand the training or education  methof for english standard of kid, how to reach KET/PET/FCE in P3/4/5 without special training.
Some kid of his school is taking exam in Japanese & French in P4/5.
But language standard for F2 ~F7 is not good as primary kid.
My friend kid is F.3 in same school but her langauge just FCE only.
He is P1 boy, his hand writing is slow and not good. How to complete KET writing in limited time? I concern it more than get merit.

PET is difficult for P2 kid?

My kid will take KET and/ or  PET in Nov.
For KET, My kid has 100% pass with merit.
For PET, he has 70~80% pass with merit.

Are u take 2 Exam or KET only?

KET or PET is no use for him, just for record filing in school.

Firstly, language learned in school, parent as an assistance only. He review & do some sample papers from 北京大學出版社出版's
Cambridge KET/PET Practice Tests, which purchased in China.
Only little careless mistake in KET & some incorrect in PET. (without testing in oral part). But writting speed is slowly.
Therefore, get good in KET or pass in PET is estimated only.
I will take KET and/or PET in coming Nov if writting improved.  
I just want to ask parent, are you take the exam for record filing without any purpose of cert?
eg. S1 place or better school.

His school is general primary school, not a famous school.
His school is not teaching any technic or skill for examination.
English teaching is same sylb. as other Primary school, no 1 or 2 level up.
Just provide a good enviroment for language learning, no any text book for language class, use Longmen's phonic fun & school's worksheet only.
English is basic skill for learning, not a ruler for measurment child. If kid love reading, and parent can assist child when reading for explanation for more.  
Good English is not labelled for good result, just get basic skill for learning.
I told my kid "Your English is a middle in class, many classmate is beter than you. pay more attention in other subject."

His school is not recommended a student taking not suitable level for examination.
Just P1/2 for starter, P2/3 for Flyer.
His school is provided a mechanism for student jumping if required. If child has a problem in learning, school will adjust the correct level for kid.

Do not focus ENGLISH only, it just a tool for learning.
The result is estimate only, not real result in public exam according to sample paper.
If will tell you real result if received.
I know some kids, can speed well language in 2 or 3 other than mother language, it is depended on playing group of kids. can speed and listen good language, it is not equal to writting good language. For example, one of his classmate, can spoke & listen japanese, but she can not write in japanese. It is because her best friend is japanese child and playing together in KG.

Kid will take in coming exam not taken before.
The result is estimated not real in this time. But, I foresee or estimate the result due to past YLE result, sample paper practise and kid ability.
Practice with sample paper brefore genuine exam is common for estimation.
If no chance for good result, I think parent will not take exam.

I know some small kids ability unexpected, may be in language, arts, music, maths or other.

I ask parent for taking cert. without purpose just for record filing. And take either 1 or 2 exam.
I am not asked the age for exam

I will "嘩!!!" if P3/4 take FCE with good result.
KET or PET for P2/3 may be too early,
but some of schoolmate is completed.

If kid studing in ESF or international school, KET/PET is not difficult for grade 2/3.
I never say "school teach KET/PET level English in kindergarten/P1", it is abnormal and non sense.
Teaching method and standard is same as other school. no any level up.

Yes, kid will P2 in this Sep.
His interest is changed to maths & Sci in holiday.
He is not requested Exam for KET/PET again.

His primary school is very small, not more than 500 for 6 levels. I hope his school will not be killed by EB.

For S1 place, use PET or FCE is safty.
Flyer is lowest or NO Use, just for reference only.
KET is basic or min, when you prepare the cert for first round interview.

If I were you, kid will take PET in P.5 Nov or Dec not in P4. For the language cert. it is OK or above standard when you kid studying in non-english school.
Only good English is NO USE, please add 1 or 2 cert in music & sport.

My friend kid is boy and take ECA cert.
PET in P5, piano in grade 7, Kung Fu in First black belt.
His primary is normal DSS and no TSA result.
He accepted by TOP TOP DSS school & King's & LSC on "knock door" period.
Finally, He is studying in aboard after F.1.

Use KET sample paper for trial, if he can complete and correct within a hour.
I will go to KET exam.
But K3 kid have Flyer cert. It is crazy than me.
The writing speed of kid is OK?
He can write 300 word essay in 30min without any guideline?
Are u "cert collector" or requested by school for "Personal Record Filing"?
Or you want to find better school after P1 for kid?
Good English cert is normal for kid studying in non-chinese base school, please add other ECA more important.
I will stop all Eng cert exam for my kid in P2/3. English is basic skill for learning not a measurment for Gifted child.
I will take 2 or 3 ECA, and take public exam in other area for Record Filing.

I use "剑桥初级英语考试教程"
My kid use all series for exam prepareation.
just RMB 23~29 per level.
If kid can not complete the sample paper within time limit, you can save the exam fee.

Yes, with CD for listening section.
I purchase student book only, no purchase teacher book if you can explain answer by self.
