My daughter does not like the facility in HKUST especially the toilets which  ...

We are not talking about a vacation at a 5 star hotel, so it would definitely not be the best luxurious experience. However, I would say the facilities are not that bad. This is a good experience for most of the princes and princesses in Hong Kong.
I think the advantage being a residential studnet is that children can have more time mingle with other students in the same class or other classes. The late evening classes run until 8:30pm so commuting back and forth can be a waste of time. My children enjoy late evening chats with other students too. And there are lots of activities during the weekends.
I think the experience is a lot more than whatever a student benefit from merely joining the day classes.

題外話、香港人真係５好笑大陸人D壊習慣、香港人自己用TOILET　D習慣都５好得去辺！！不只這間大学、其他HU ...

又很難說，大學其實一般較開放式，外人個個都入得。
話就話係大學 toilet，但真係同公廁冇乜分別。

What's the student mix? Are they mainly from Hong Kong?

唔清楚，以今年來說，看樣貌是華裔為主，大部份是本港國際學校學生，仔女話有 HKIS，CIS，CDNIS，ESF；本地學校學生都有，但好少，都是名校生如 DBS，DGS，LA SALLE，可能因為費用唔平；亦有從外國來港的學生，但也都是亞洲人；唔覺多外國人，眼看可能兩三個？(早兩三年多些外國人面孔)。我說的是 grade 7 up 的 program；小學的不清楚，但大致看樣貌，都是亞洲人 (華人)。

大陸學生應該沒有，好像國內對學生出國交流有特別安排，印象中 cty  網頁有特別提醒學生要注意這點，如果是來自大陸的學生，應該是有其他國家的 passport。我覺得 cty 很執著外地學生來香港要有 valid status，不會批准以自由行 status 來上堂，就算是我們這些本地人，也要 submit 一大堆 document (passport，medical report，insurance)。

如果介意是華裔，就要去美國那邊，那邊多很多選擇。

cty 分幾個 qualifying boundary；較高 percentile 的學生的可以參加 intensive class，低少少分可以參加 academic exploration，再低只可以參加 online course。香港主要是 intensive classes， academic exploration 的好像只有一兩科；online course 少了和其他 talented students  的 interaction，缺少了我個人認為 cty 給學生最大的意義，我仔女沒參加過。

可能我仔女較冇要求啦，我地去到外國，地方乾淨的就當然開心，唔乾淨都好少投訴。他們再落後的地區都去過，試過 5  日冇涼沖。我仔個 cty roommate，美籍華人，父母身光頸靚，有錢仔；我地一齊入到房，都聞到房有味，我以為佢會嘈，點知佢媽咪重話，"very nice room，very cosy"。開了冷氣，唔駛 10  分鐘都冇晒味。完來同學仔去過台灣的 summer program，都係住大學宿舍，佢地話 ust  的房算好，個邊更差。細路仔襯後生捱下啦，又唔係要佢地長住，個個都係咁住，no big deal；人地 ust 大學生，住四年都係咁啦。

真係好ENVY以上幾位、CTY是要求「If you’re a parent of a very bright child, welcome」的、我就永遠無縁 ...

mighty，冇話係唔係 bright。只係某 d 小朋友，用某把尺度，就較突出。
cty 只係跟據某幾個 standard tests 去 qualify 學生，事實是，這些 tests 不能 cover 全部可量度的能力。
即係例如，考綱琴唔高分，唔代表唱歌唔好聽。

邊個知將來係點？我成日覺得，好多叻人都係 late bloomers，冇幾多個係由細叻到老。
