如果送BB去何文田維多利亞幼兒班會不會升原校幼稚園容易D? 可不可以比D意見我呀?

因爲我住得比較遠,假如讀唔讀同校幼兒班都沒有分別,我情願送BB去近屋企的幼兒班. 始終兩歲咁細要BB自己坐校車好擔心.

If you can get into the nursery class, then you are almost guaranteed a place in their K1 - however, it was quite hard to get into their nursery class this year. I think that each year, they have a different number of places for nursery admission so it depends on the number of vacancies next year.

I don't know too much about which kindergarten is good.  My niece studied in HK Victoria when she was little (she is now 8) and also a few of my friends have kids there.  All the children I know who studied there seems quite happy.  Also, it is closer than the kinders in kowloon tong as I live in TST.  For nursery, I prefer to choose somewhere closer.  The other choice I have is Yan Oi Tong in Kowloon Station as it is extremely close to where I live.

Good things: Long history (40 years) with good reputation. The chief principle is the successor of her mother, thus the school can catch the pace of society development. The school is well organised and systematic. You can proof my words from the setup of the campus and their notices. I have visited a few famous kg including St. Catherine, St. Nicholas, York, Creative, Cannan and HKBU. Homantin Victoria is on the top. Victoria adopted two mistress system (one Chinese and one English) and the teacher/staff are very nice. About qualification, most of them have more than one certificate. In short, Homantin Victoria is good choice, especially for PN class. There is not so many options. Since Victoria is quite transparent, I suggest you have a look in their website.

For me, SC has accepted my son in K1 am class. However, I am still struggling whether he should continue learning at Victoria. Indeed, its good.

yes my twin daughters studied in their PN class last year and were very happy. The teachers and staff were all very nice. This year, my daughters have been accepted into St Paul's Nursery which is a through train nursery into ST Paul's COnvent so reluctantly I transferred them to St Paul's.

Thanks a zillion for the useful info.

I think it is very good that you respect your child's wishes and let him stay in a school which he enjoys.  I think very few parents (esp. in competitive HK) is able to do what you did.

Would you mind sharing with us why you had decided to let him stay in Victoria?

also, did you consider Keen Mind Kindergarten at the time?  I heard from other BK mothers that it is very good.

其實早在前年, 當明傑一歲左右, 想替他報考幼兒班, 當時報了救世軍, 方方樂趣, 劍鳴及維多利亞(何文田), 只有救世軍因為排隊遲, 沒有消息, 其他三間經面試都收了, 當時選維記是因為該校在香港歷史悠久, 今次首在九龍辦學, 適逢40周年, 學校應該會盡力去做, 做到最好; 加上孔校長說會結束中康維記, 把最好的60%師資調去HMT, 及朝向考IB的模式施教, 以及親自參觀美麗的校舍之後, 就決定在何文田讀Pre-Nursery. 其他的校舍, 及面試時給予的印象都不及維記, 加上聽聞劍鳴換了校長及走了很多老師, 就更加沒有信心...

至於今年升K1只報了崇真國際班, St.Cat., 甘桔園, 又一村學校及聖約望, 最後兩間因多數唔會讀, 所以無去面試, 崇真及St.Cat都收了, 甘桔園用中文In, 但小兒中文唔掂, 老師又堅持唔肯改用英文問問題, 結果只有waiting list.....

小兒已適應了維記的生活, 不希望從頭再適應新環境, 希望一上K1就進入學習階段, 免得浪費時間再磨合一番.

相比於St.Cat., Victoria有更高的透明度, 而學習環境又靚的, 小朋友最喜歡美麗的事物... 而師生比例, Victoria Pre-Nursery是1:8;  Nursery (K1)是1:10; K2是1:12.... ST.Cat唔太清楚, 但面試時見班上人名表有28人, 兩位老師, 即可能是1:14.

昨天小兒開學, 今年該班15人, 兩位老師, 即1: 7.5.

另一方面, 即使St.Cat於K1為AM, 在K2時要強制全部都PM, 所以我亦不太喜歡.

另外, 一般人都說St.Cat派名校多,考私立直資有優勢, 英文一定好, 但我則存疑, St.Cat兩校每年有成600-700學生畢業, 按比例派到名校多又有幾出奇, 他們背後靠學校, 還是靠補習班, 還是靠家庭教育?

而且, 我十分認為, 家校的合作是相輔相成, 而家庭方面的教育, 影響可能更大, 如家長自少培訓幼兒, 投放足夠的資源及時間, 讀任何學校都不會太差, 只是St.Cat及Victoria之類的學校, 一般家長都是跨區送子女入讀, 在家庭的支援, 及品格的修養, 比一般屋村有教無類, 係人都收, 可能會較有保障, 減少因受差劣同學所影響的機會而已. 因為大家都想子女好, 亦有足夠照顧, 促成良性競爭, 互相進步.

話說回St.Cat入名校多, 我們沒有資料顯示, 係因地區及父母背景而得分多, 而派名校多; 還是純粹係品牌效應.... 同樣地, 入名校多, 即使有半數入到名校, 同樣地, 即等於有300多人入唔到? 我不能保證小兒能躋身300強, 如果能力較弱, 反而被比了下去 :-|

相反, 我唔肯定St.Cat及Victoria那一間較好, 但相信小兒讀維多利亞, 一定唔會太差, 能躋身前半班而名列前茅相信比較容易, 對其建立自信心有幫助.

最後, 我買了個不科學, 迷信, 而心安的保險, 我用通勝上的諸葛神算問了三次, 都似乎留在維多利亞較好, 以上都是個人的見解, 請自己再分析.    ~~完~~

請問你的小朋友是不是坐校車回校? 因為見到有些家長說坐校車回校及放學, 情況有點混亂, 而且會少15-20分鐘的上課時間, 以你的觀察情況如何?

Does any mom just let their children to study for 2 or 3 days a week at Victoria Nursery? I understand that you could choose how many days to attend school and the school fee varies according to the days you attend. I don't want my BB to go to school 5 days a week before K1. I feel that it's too harsh for a little baby, but I still want her to have a taste of school life.
