I have the same problem:
My son started PN on 4 August. In the first week, he loved going to school very much. Keep on telling others that that was his school and school bag. We could accompanion him to attend the lesson for the 4 days (1 hour). The following 2 days, no parent is allowed. But he still loved it without crying.
This week, his attitude towards school totally changed. He saw others yelled, cried loud fighting with their parents not to go in to the school. I thought this worried him a lot. From that day, he kept on crying, stop and cried, stop and cried for the whole lesson until my maid pick him up. Now, he cried for almost 5 days. The other classmates no longer cry. I am a bit worry as he resists and is scare whenever we talk about school. He kept on saying "no school' and "no school". The teacher did told me her experience that she met this kind of children before, he may cried for a long period - one month or even 3 months. I tried to give him toys or things he liked to accompanion him for attending lesson but didn't work.
I have a conversation with his class teacher. She told me her experience and taught me how to react. For example, bring his favourable toy and not to mention "School". Just mention toys, playgrounds and classmates.
My son loves Barney and I will buy a "Back to School" DVD for him. Hopefully it can comfort him softly |
