Chemistry and Engineering:
• Grade 5 in Core Maths and Core English
• Grades 5*5*5 in three electives from Category A (or grade A in any electives taken from Category C), with grade 5* in subjects required for the course you are applying for.
• Students taking a Maths extension paper may count it as one of their electives. Maths/Maths and Statistics/Maths and Philosophy:
• Grade 5 in Core Maths and Core English
• Grade 5* in one Maths extension paper and grades 5*5 in two other electives from category A (or grade A in any electives taken from Category C) For courses requiring A*AA:
• Grade 5 in Core Maths and Core English
• Grades 5*55 in three electives from Category A (or grade A in any electives taken from Category C), including any subjects required for the course you are applying to.
• Students taking a Maths extension paper may count it as one of their electives.
• Students should check the relevant course page for specific subject and grade requirements: if A* is required, students will need to achieve 5* in that subject. For courses requiring AAA:
• Grade 4 in Core Maths and grade 5 in Core English
• Grades 5 or A in three electives from Category A or C, including any subjects required for the course you are applying to.

Hong KongTypical Offer Level The typical offer level for candidates taking the HKDSE will depend on the Cambridge course for which you are applying. Applicants will normally be expected to obtain: Core Subjects Grades of 5 in all core subjects, and grades of 5* in two or more relevant core subjects. Please note that for Cambridge courses that require Mathematics and Further Mathematics A Levels, applicants are required to take Extended Module 2 (Algebra and Calculus) Mathematics as part of their core. For Cambridge courses that require Mathematics A Level, applicants are advised to take either Extended Module 1 (Calculus and Statistics) or Extended Module 2 (Algebra and Calculus) Mathematics as part of their core. A Level Further Mathematics and/or Mathematics is desirable but not a requirement for some courses. Prospective applicants for these courses might want to consider taking the appropriate Mathematics Extended Module. Applicants will normally be expected to attain a pass mark in Citizenship and Social Development. Please see our course pages for detailed entry requirement information. Elective Subjects Applicants for arts courses (except Economics), Psychological and Behavioural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine will be expected to achieve a minimum of 5*55 in their electives. Applicants for science courses (excluding Psychological and Behavioural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine) and Economics will be expected to achieve a minimum of 5*5*5 in their electives. General Guidance Applicants for all Cambridge courses may sometimes be asked to achieve 5** in a subject from their electives or the core in place of one or more 5* grades as set out above.
