個information好有用㗎,  即係佢睇 M2+Math+ 1other subject? manchester要睇四科, Leeds好似會容易啲!

這個問題可以讓其他的家長回答一下.因為阿仔當時收到ICL.UCL的 conditional offer,最後出來的成績也達到了ICL的要求,所以我也就沒有很詳細了解.

Just logged into my UCAS track and found LSE under the "unsuccessful" box


Now I am really discouraged because LSE was my dream school and I am afraid that there is a major flaw in my application that might ruin my application for other schools as well. The official feedback from the admissions selector said that my application was unsuccessful as a consequence of my personal statement but my counselor said that he found it odd that my personal statement was good enough to get me an interview for Cambridge but not the LSE


My grades are 5A* 4A in IGCSE and predicted 43 in IB with 777 HL and now I am afraid that I may get rejected from Cambridge, Kings and Warwick too

Getting an interview and getting an offer are not the same thing. Cambridge interviews about 80% of its applicant cohort, whereas the LSE LLB's offer rate is around 15%. Assuming the applicants are of a similar calibre (considering most LSE applicants are also Oxbridge hopefuls), one can imagine that there would be a much lower threshold for Cambridge interviews than for LSE offers.


I suspect that the GCSE + IB combo might have been the killer. Since your only "firm" grades are your GCSEs, which are unexceptional by LLB standards, LSE might have found it difficult to expect you to actually get a 43 in the IB. Alternatively, even if they did take your IB predictions seriously, the GCSEs may have nonetheless put you at a disadvantage to those with straight A*s at GCSE level. When LSE has so few data points about the applicant (GCSE+IB predictions+P.S.), failing to pass the bar on just one of them could result in a rejection.

如果萬一真係爆晒quota，咁大學會直接reject或mark as unsuccessful個申請，還是一路都唔覆或只mark as under consideration呢？

如果佢一路hold住個申請唔覆或still under consideration，根據ucas指引話申請人必須收齊所有已提出申請的大學回覆，才可繼續下一步去揀firm and insurance choices，咁個申請咪會卡住係呢度？ 還是所有已提出申請的所有大學，無論成功與否都會在一個指定的限期內通知申請者是否被接納，以便申請人可另選其他大學以代替不被接納的大學？

No, there is no quota set. According to UCAS, as long as you apply before the deadline, universities will consider you equally.

"以便申請人可另選其他大學以代替不被接納的大學" - No, you cannot make another new application if you have already used up 5 choice in your original application thought UCAS. You can only make new application (thought Clearing) if you failed all your 5 original application.

阿仔選擇每次長假返香港考3-4個Conversion單元，佢話比起Final Year 回港後一次過考晒12個單元無咁辛苦。而且英國同香港法律課題大致相同，只係個案不同，所以認為係英國讀完嗰幾個單元即刻返嚟考會好D。同時長假返香港可以搵Internship，對畢業後回港搵training contract有幫助。


我建議UCAS 5個choice 1 個A*AA、3個AAA同1個AAB會好D。因為最後無論你有幾多個conditional offer，都只係揀1個firm同1個insurance，所以AAB只需要一個做保險就夠。最重要係你囡囡揀嘅insurance係佢都鍾意，會願意去讀。


你囡囡嘅predicted grades 係AAA，我覺得保險揀AAB已好穩陣，如果真係咁唔好彩得ABB，報Clearing已經可以入到D唔太差嘅Law Schools，唔使將要求降到咁低。


Durham同Bristol都係英國10大法律學院，Conditional offer grades大部份情況下應該無價講。我覺得你同囡囡唔好俾咁大壓力自己，只需要盡力讀好AL，唔好成日覺得會考得好差。


LNAT值唔值得考真係見人見智，睇吓你係咪好想入LNAT大學。我囝囝有考，因為佢嘅首選係Oxford，同時亦想有多D選擇。唔需要LNAT嘅法律學院多過要LNAT嘅好多，所以唔考我覺得都無問題。

對不起！近日公務繁忙，遲了回覆。

你選的除了Birmingham都是英國前20名藥劑系的大學，其中以Nottingham同Queen's University Belfast最好，是頭5位之選，而Nottingham更在QS榜世界排名第6。由於囡囡已在Nottingham讀緊foundation，正路應把目標放在Nottingham。我建議請囡囡用心讀好foundation，以便申請原校的藥劑系，機會最大。因為如果Nottingham唔收，要以foundation入其他10大會有困難。


保險之選我建議Reading，亦可考慮Keele，藥劑系排名同名氣都比Birmingham好。


另外請留意英國政府要求海外生修畢藥劑學位後要找到一份年薪20,700英鎊的實習工作，才批實習簽證。Nottingham是其中一間提供一條龍取得碩士學位的藥劑學四年制課程的大學，仲會為學生尋找實習機會，所以應該係你囡囡嘅首選。


近日有不少人在網上討論香港藥劑師前景欠佳的問題，我唔係業界，唔清楚是否屬實，不過如果囡囡考慮回港發展，請留意並小心查證。

HHHR, 你仔仔確係精英,我囡囡D成績一向很飄忽，所以我十分擔心佢究竟適合讀law!佢而家想Manchester, Birmingham,Warwick, Exeter最後個間仲未諗到，我想放ABB穩陣D,但佢又話Liverpool 唔係咁好！但放多間AAB但冇邊間揀！好困擾啊！想你confirm 一下，知道CO有冇quota? 係唔係、派唒就冇？我而家好擔心，因真而家真係好遲。thank you

CO是否派完就無不由學生家長控制，無得擔心。你孩子personal statement 是否已寫好？當填完UCAS資料，選了學校和pay and send 之後，學校会交reference letter 去UCAS。現在學校已放假，估計這段時間學校也不会有人寫reference letter, 不如你趁這段時間跟孩子好好傾下。

如果是自行報UCAS的，申請人提供的諮詢人一日未log on 提交Reference Letter及Predicted Grades給UCAS，是不能付款及提交申請的。
阿仔10月中已網上填好UCAS所有資料及personal statement ，諮詢人提供了學校老師的電郵地址給UCAS，但老師拖到11月中才提交reference letter給UCAS，足足遲了一個月才可付款及正式提交申請。

我孩子先pay and send，之後有個訊息話会通知咨詢人，UCAS户口是孩子在學校自己開，當時已填了咨詢人資料。是否海外生不同？

冷靜D！！！

只要係UCAS限期1月15日或以前報名係唔會有問題。英國大學，特別係1線尾2線頭嘅大學都好清楚佢地係次選，所以會派多D Conditional Offer，因為會有一定數目嘅offer holder 最後放棄佢地個位。好多英國學生都係X'mas前後先報UCAS，你囡囡唔算遲，諗清楚先決定係無錯嘅。

如果真係無信心搏到A*AA，第5間可以考慮York同Sheffield，都係Russell Group大學，以往都試過有小數AAB入到法律。其實你囡囡揀嘅Exeter都有類似個案，所以唔好太担心。唔一定要RG大學都可以考慮Leicester，佢嘅法律學院係英國都幾出名。


最後提醒你囡囡多一句，5月4日決定成為自己firm choice同insurance choice嘅大學一定要係自己願意去嘅大學，否則往後3年會好難捱，特別係讀法律。切記！

你也説得對，經學校或Agents 報UCAS和自己報可能有分別。如自己直接上UCAS系統報英國大學，雖然已填寫所有資料，都必須等待諮詢人提交reference 後才可付費及正式提交申請。

我仔學校話要提前10個working days通知佢哋去準備reference letter及predicted grades，所以仔仔仍修改緊personal statement時已通知咗學校，亦喺UCAS填定要嘅資料，最終reference letter仲早過personal statement完成。
