題目講明營地距離極地幾公里，所以營地不在極地。

答案是3.48公里。

怎樣解釋呢？

再向北走三公里回到營地，(3+0.48)=3.48公里。

By the way, magnetic North is not true geographic North, they are a few hundred miles apart, and it keeps changing because the Earth wobbles as it spins.

Neither of the questions stated that magnetic compass was used in finding the directions. In these modern days, GPS or satellite navigation is the norm.

The group of scientists will surely not be ignorant as to use magnetic compass there.
