Dunno about other U's, but the only programmes at HKU that require (not just prefer) M1 or M2 are BBA(IS),
BSc(AC) and BSc(QFin).

我女原來無諗過drop phy,
而且都鍾意呢科,
佢應該唔會讀engineering................
唯有叫佢多做練習...

只知道英國UCAS當半科，其他國家就不知道。美國主要看SAT及AP，參考心儀大學的收國際生的要求。

外國中學數學有分開三科(?),大學不同係要求有列出須要邊科數學。

因為要指定數學的科目，不少是水泡科，為了收夠學生，大學不敢及不願寫死M1或M2。今時不同往日，工程，科學已經不是首選。所以精算，QFin或其他熱門科會指定M1或M2！

Medicine, Actuarial Sci and QF all need advanced statistics.

My friend's son studying Engineering in HKU, he only got Phy / Chem & M1, didn't take M2.
