大學選科

阿仔喜歡化學, 他希望大學選科揀關於這方面來讀, 不知出路如何, 可以做些甚麼工作

我認識三個由港大畢業(化學系), 一個開補習社全職補chem, 一个由化驗所轉為公務員(全無關係), 另一个繼續讀博士研究生.

其實阿仔對藥劑是有興趣, 但是老師同佢講出路唔係太多, 加上恐怕佢d成績未必能達到要求 , 咁樣還可以有甚麼選擇,

My 2 cents about Pharmacy in HK:

1. In HK medical doctors dominated the medical field, pharmacist just 2nd best. Not like in other countries, segregation of medicine and pharmacy.

2. Most graduates work for HA, if no opening for Pharmacists, they may work as senior dispensers (Do you mind to work under a classmate because of limited vacancy?) or work in drug stores or other healthcare groups.

3. Not much R&D opportunities in HK, except MNC, most local drug manufacturers aim for genuine drugs.

4. If aim for R&D, must go for overseas or work in local universities or new start-up in Science Park.

5. The admission grades pretty close to MBBS, particularly for some students don't like bloody.......

6. MBBS - HKU + CUHK 420 seats,
Pharm - HKU + CUHK 70 seats

That's what I got from a post-PhD from a local university. My son heard about that and dropped Pharmacy.... aim higher for MBBS......

We encourage our son to take any professional degree and then graduate school....... We try to open many options for him to evaluate in details, even the first degree is a wrong choice(except MBBS, too expensive to waste other's chance), still a professional one and take another graduate program later.

My case - Professional + MBA +...
My wife - General + MBA + ...

Too general may not be a good approach from my point of view, unless he has no choice, then take BBA or BA.

No need to debate here, that's our preference only; different backgrounds have difference focus.

唔好意思,我的英文水準唔太高,你的意思是否即係藥劑都係博唔過,咁可以給多少少意見
另外兒子有幸下星期到科大interview, 想問問衣著方面是否最好穿西裝

Pharmacy still a good program, but keen competition. No harm to try, he can decide when he received the offer.

Dress code, depends on programs, for business can be formal or smart causal. Personally, smart causal is the best. Also, check his hair & color, ear ring...... you know what I mean.

極同意, 講真, 選PHARMACY, 不如入MED好過(只不過讀多兩年),尤其男仔

多謝各位意見 , 其實我希望阿仔選business出路比較多,但阿仔堅持對這沒有無興趣, 所以我都沒法, 他準備下星期interview science,他個子比較小所以唔想穿西裝,但可以點穿才合謂

我又想搭單問下各位,我個仔仲意數學,佢想將來既工作係計數,但如果讀精算要求好高,佢未必夠分,讀數學出路又好少,佢唔仲意做老師,佢多數會選讀工程,但工程都有好多種,想問各位如果讀工程,那種工程出路會多D呢?

我聽個HKU教授講而家HK得工木工程出路會多D。

另聞說CU有科Maths+Information Engineering(double degree)都好受歡迎。

你仔有興趣讀會計嗎？

i don't know, but you can try to contact the hong kong institutes of engineers, they have 19 or so kinds of engineers- traffic/acoustic/railway/geotech......
