希望大家別誤會我歧視簡體字.只是,我覺得繁體字才是中國字的根源,好多字都記載了字形發展的歷史,所以我認為學中文,宜用繁體字...

CIS uses 繁體字 for teaching. But in secondary, the school accepts students using 簡體字 in composition and writing essay if they learnt  簡體字 before.

There are around 30 more places in CIS year 7. Therefore, at least 30 students out of 120 are new in year 7. Moreover, at least several places are available each year from year 8 onwards, due to old students going aboard. According to the headmaster, new students admitted in secondary school are mainly based on academic excellence.

You are right. Students using 簡體字 are transferred from other schools, or from mainland China.

考CIS 主要看英语水平, 数学是其次, 中文放在最末, CIS 在yr 6 and yr7 收佷多外籍生和回流的海外华人.  是完全不懂中文的.  

CIS 有大量中文老师, 孩子中文从领开始都无问题.

非常同意!  特别是父母会参与教导孩子的家庭.  试想香港到处是繁体字, 你教一个繁体字, 孩子是有机会在日常生活重温十至一百次的, 效果是事半功倍的. 懂得繁体字的孩子, 好容易认得简体字.

小女的学校教简体字, 在家和课余学繁体字, 基本上她是两样也看得明白的, 而写作就必定用繁体字, 除非是一时忘繁体的写法.

万事起头难, 请尽力把握孩子们十岁前的学习期, 不要放弃!

Does anyone know about the Chinese standard in ICS elementary school?  I heard that they are increasing the Chinese classes in a week.  Also they meet the Beijing Hanyu Standard intermediate level Chinese in their high school.  Does anyone know what level or how good is the Chinese meeting that level?

其實好多 IS 學生, 放咗學都會去 learning centre 惡補中文。就算國際學校考嘅係 "Chinese as a second language", 我都冇信心亞囝會考得好。

Dear parents of CIS, SIS and KCIS,

Are students from CIS, SIS and KCIS having acceptable level of Chinese? I was told that KCIS Chinese standard is only one level below local school. If this is the case, I am quite satisfied. I do not require my kid to know "old grammatical Chinese".

Please kindly share your view.

我都支持繁體字，不竟這是我的根。我查了一些簡體字的發展資料,以下一篇寫得不錯。

My situation is the same as topkidsmom and you!  Every month I spend more money in learning centres than the school fee.

I just spend around $1,800 for her Chinese lesson, 1 lesson per week for 1.5 hours, tutor charges us $300.00/hour, it is acceptable ! However, for us, school fee and learning centre or private tutor (language) are likely the same, sum of around $23,000 per month !
My girl communicates with others in Cantonese is OK, but read and write...sigh
