請問蘇淅的課程是怎樣的呢?因為在考慮報甚麼學校,所以想知道多d...例如

(1) 是不是很注重中文呢?

(2) 小朋友的普通話又好唔好?

(3) 英文又好唔好?

(4) 國際班同本地班的不同?

(5) 多活動嗎?須要寫很多字嗎?

(6) 會培養小朋友自動學習及讀書興趣嗎?

(7) 老師嚴謹?很有愛心?很有耐性?

sorry,因為是新手媽媽,都唔知選校應從那裡開始?所以很多問題,謝謝其他媽媽的分享.

My KID just finished PN, started K1 for 2 months only, so, I may not know too much.  Just try to answer to give you little insight.
(1) 是不是很注重中文呢? YES, BUT HAVE A GOOD BALANCE WITH ENGLISH.
(2) 小朋友的普通話又好唔好? MOST ARE GOOD AFTER 3 YEARS OF KG EDUCATION.
(3) 英文又好唔好?  BETTER THAN MOST LOCAL KGs.  OUT OF 3 HOURS OF CLASS DURATION, KG HAS 45 MINUTES OF ENGLISH TAUGHT BY WESTERNER EVERY DAY. OTHER TIME, ALL IN MANDARINE.
(4) 國際班同本地班的不同?  本地班'S SYLABUS IS TAILORED FOR LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS.  國際班 IS IB STREAM, QUITE DIFFERENT.
(5) 多活動嗎? OK 須要寫很多字嗎? NOT TOO MANY, AS FAR AS I KNOW, NO HOMEWORK FOR K1.
(6) 會培養小朋友自動學習及讀書興趣嗎? THE KG STUDENTS WILL GO TO THE SCHOOL LIBRARY ONCE PER WEEK.
(7) 老師嚴謹?很有愛心?很有耐性?  MY KID IS LUCKY, ALL THE ACHERS SHE MET ARE 有愛心& 有耐性 SO FAR.

hello, thanks for the info!! may I ask one more question, so are you saying they will use mandarin teaching starting in K1 already?

Since PN, not only KG.  Mandarin and English are the 2 medium of instruction in this school.  No cantonese at all.  But of course, students will also talk to each other in Cantonese.

非常感謝你的回覆!我就是想bb懂得普通話才選這間學校的,很快便會去面試了!你可以告訴我一點面試的心得嗎?我的孩子是不懂普通話的,會不會對面試有影響呢?而上課時,不是用廣東話嗎?那是不是從pn開始己經全普通話?

k1沒有功課,那會不會教中英文字呢?可以告訴我你的小朋友完成pn後,其實會識得甚麼呢?會識字可以自己看書嗎?會填顏色嗎?會明白大小,時間(看鐘),顏色,形狀,數字,abc,簡單中文字,還懂甚麼呢?

對不起,因為我是新手媽媽,所以完全沒有idea pn是怎樣的?如果問題太無聊,請多多包涵!非常感謝!

For the interview, no need to choose Mandarin, just choose the language you and your kid is more comfortable with.  I choose Cantonese.  KCS PN interview is relatively easy, it is in the form of 1 teacher to 1 kid and 2 parents.  I can't remember what the teacher exactly tested my kids la, I only remember the teacher asked my kid to identify the kind of fruit (apple/ grapes/banana),  and then gave her a crayon and paper to play, while she was playing, she asked me where we would usually go during weekend, what was my girl's favourite game at home and who mainly responsible for taking care of my girl.  Your kid is still small, it is very difficult to prepare, so, just relax and go there as going to a playgroup.

Yes, KCS uses Mandarine and English as the medium of instruction since PN. 上課不用廣東話.

K1 - they will teach simple Chinese and English words. Actually, they teach simple Chinese words even in PN, like the word small, large, mountain, hands, etc.  

Your questions re PN:
會識字可以自己看書嗎 - I know some KCS PN students can read books by themself (I mean understand the meaning of the words), but I think it is mainly the contribution from home.  I am sorry, my girl enjoys reading very much,  but I think she enjoys reading the pictures  and listening to the stories only.  She cannot understand the words.  My fault as I am quite a lazy mum. If you want your kid 可以自己看書 after PN, you have to give more input.

會填顏色嗎?  YES, they have such activities in class

會明白大小, 顏色,形狀,數字,abc,簡單中文字,?  Yes

Other thing gained from school?  My girl is not very smart when compared to her schoolmates, so, it is not a good sample for you to benchmark with, but I can tell she understands simple Mandarine, learns lots of songs in Mandarine and English.  Most importantly,  she enjoys going to school.  I am not emphasis on academic at all.  I think going to PN is just to learn how to go along with other childrens and have fun....

One good point about KCS PN is that it is very multinational, almost one-third of the students in my girl's class last year are westerners or mixed kids.  I can also tell its activities are very diversified and have some activities where other PNs may not have, give you a few examples, water-play, sand-play and hotpot in the classroom, playing kites....

KCS KG accepts 細B as their is a boy in my kid's class who just reach 2 year and 8 months when school begin in Sept.  When compared to other children, he is soooo small.  Frankly speaking, if I have a 細B, I prefer him to be a Big B next year.  Half year or one year gap shows a great different in the ability of small kids unless yours is very outstanding.

KG interview:  One teacher interviewed the kid with one or 2 parents.  I can't remember the details lah, I only remember the teacher gave her some toys to play, a simple wodden puzzle for her to assembly, a book to read, ask her a few questions about where is her eyes, ear, where is your mother and mother, etc.  Then ask me a few very simple questions, as who take care of the kid during day time, where you will take her to during the weekend, etc.  I overhead some kid will sing a song in the interview. I am not sure if it is at the request of the teacher or the parents initiate this.  Anyway, the whole interivew is very cheerful, atmosphere is good, not serious at all.  

You can either choose Mandarin or English as the medium of interview.  But if your kid do not know mandarin, the teacher will switch to Cantonese, no worry.  I choose Mandarin but the interview was mainly conducted in Cantonese as my Mandarine is not good : )

KCS is definately a famous KG for ON HK Island, especially famous for learning Mandarin.  However, the KG to primary allocation statistic is not being released officially by KCS on website, so, I don't have a full picture.  But based on the cases that I have heard, the allocation is quite good ga.

The primary one to secondary school allocation result is shown on KCS website, quite good also in my opionion, extract as follow: 聖保羅男女 (2 students), 聖保羅書院(6 students), 皇仁書院(1), 英皇(1), 瑪利曼(4), 庇理羅士(6), 華仁(1), 英華(2), 聖若瑟(2), St Paul convent & St Stephen Girls, etc.

Traditional or not, it all depends on what type of KG you are comparing to.  If you compared it to Victoria, yes, it is traditional.  If you compared it to most local KGs in HK, it is not that traditional.  It's class activities actually are very diversified.  I am so far satisfied with it and do not feel regret for choosing this school for my girl (I also had Victoria PN offer on hand before).

Since my small BB cannot sit still, do you think it's still suitable?  SORRY, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION. I THINK IT ALL DEPNDS ON THE ABILITY OF THE CHILD.  BUT I THINK KCS IS GOOD IN TRAINING CHILDREN'S DISCIPLINE.  SO, NO WORRY, JUST TRY.

10 K1 based on my counting result, K1A to K1J.

幼稚園升小學 has to sit for interview starting from this year......so, no guarantee, but I trust should still have the advantage if the kid is from KCS KG.

Sorry, as mentioned before, no official statistic being released and I only know serveral cases, so, not representative at all. Thus, I don't want to write it here to distort the picture or mislead people (I know a case going to St Paul Co-ed).  Maybe you go to open a thread to ask the current K3 parents what kind of offer there children have got from private and DSS primary school lah.
