Comments on St. Nicholas

HI Parents,

I need some advise ! what is your feedback to this kindergarten ? I know they are more follow the US/Canada way to teach the children. is your children learn a lot from this school ? what do you think if compare to St. Catherine or Kentville ??

It's hard to compare among these 3 schools and probably unfair.  SN is on a smaller scale as compared to the other 2 and SN has smaller size classes as well.  In terms of curriculum, I believe SN is closer to Kentville with enough homework to keep the kids busy and up to date.

Overall my son enjoys SN very much and he is well loved there.  I am not too sure if a big school can accomodate that sort of individual care.

It's your call and go with your heart.

Thanks for your advise. actually SN give me a very good impression. They are very patient when interview my child. They spend almost 45 mins to interview my child and talked to me. Unlike the other school, only spend 5-10 mins on the interview. How well they can know the children in 5-10 mins ?? how can the school make a judgement to the child within these few minutes?? seems not very fair. KV accepted my child, but I still struggling which school should he goes.

你好!或者我講下我既經歷俾你作參考。

當年我有只幫我女考左金巴倫、根德園及屋企附近既保良局譚歐陽少芳幼稚園三間。結果金巴倫收左，根德園後備，而譚歐陽唔收，我去信根德園求位，最後都俾到我，但我最後揀左金巴倫，原因係金巴倫學生比較少，猶如小班教學，老師容易照顧到小朋友。而且過往金巴倫係某d小學既叩門成功率都幾高。

結果，我女已讀至K.3，好幸運佢果班個老師好有責任心，好著緊小朋友。而程度方面，佢地一上K.3，課程模式已開始接近小一。由於我本人已有兩個於津貼小學就讀既兒子，小學課程比較熟習，如果以金巴倫所授既中、英及數，接上小一絕無問題。而且我覺得金巴倫在學生上小一方面，好肯提供幫忙。

其實九龍塘區既幼稚園，間間程度都好好，問題只在於家長既心水及遇到既老師能否相夾。希望幫到你!

Can anyone tell one what are the major primary schools of SN's graduates studying? Or any primary schools prefer SN's graduates?

我都想知道SN多d資料...我同囡囡去interview的感覺幾好...d老師解釋得詳細...我見近幾年primary schools 都幾好, 請比多d comments...我已經留位SN & York...但Waiting 緊SC, 我知道SC都大機會有位...如果SC收, 讀SC好...還是讀SN好...我已經放棄York...所以只有SC & SN 選擇, SC 名氣大...請大家幫忙比多d意見...我想知道雜費多唔多呀!Thanks

It really is a personal preference thing.  SN is smaller and relatively less well known as compared to SC. But then it's also more individualized in terms of caring of kids and nuturing of their development.  I heard that SC's curriculum is not as difficult at least for the first year or so.

If you are after brand names then you might go for SC.  But whether that will do any good in chasing after well known primary schools you have to find your way out becoz SC doesn't make that knowledge public through their net.
