陪讀是應該差不多每天進行，每次只需廿零分鐘，太長反而不好，孩子會容易缺乏專注力，也會感到是一種負擔 ...

我當然知道家長陪讀係最好但自問能力有限, 又吾識點樣可以由淺入深甘去陪讀
所以選擇外判(自己陪中文, 英文交比姐姐)
而姐姐每星期黎一個鐘, 除左陪讀, 還會要佢運用返當日所講的故事的VOCAB, 作簡短的句子

依家就作下文甘

如果我有甘上下英文能力, 我都會自己做...............

成效我暫時吾可以好肯定甘話一定好好
但看得出呀仔識的VOCAB 係多左

佢初初都係學PHONICS (都係呢個姐姐教), 然之後看COMIC
到岩岩CNY 後, 就開始看CHAPTER BOOK

可能, 對一D 讀開英小, 或者程度深小小的小三學生黎講, 我仔都係好一般, 但對佢學校黎講, 已經夠用

My girl is now 2 years old now and I had started reading books with her before bedtime since she was 6 months old. We read Eric Carle's picture books, ORTs, and many other books borrorwed from library. For Chinese, I read Baby Bible every night. And now she loves books and would even choose the book she wants me to read. She cannot identify word now, but she can remember the phrase I read, like when I read Eric Carle's They Very Hungry Catepillar, "On Monday he ate one apple, but he was still...", then she would respond "hungry". Though it seems to be just a little milestone, it inspires me to keep on reading with her. The next step, I wanna train her identify simple single words.

剛買了一套MAGIC TREE HOUSE正每天與小兒伴讀, 但只能自行明白及閱讀一半, 是不是選錯了?  但他又很喜歡這樣刺激性故事, 應繼續還是找些淺一點的英文書呢?

我仔細細個的時候，我是參考英國的一個伴讀計劃 http://www.bookstart.org.uk/。
當時膽粗粗send email給他們，他們竟給我回覆還送我一套圖書作嬰幼兒閱讀的開始。

四五歲時輕鬆的伴讀，我會選"big book"及有圖畫的書為主，一些pop up books也好有趣。magic tree house未必是一個好方向，在似之前，可先試Froggy, Mr Men, Little Miss, Curious George, Dr Seuss等系列, 發掘多點有趣的書(中英亦然)，這樣才有趣味。

至於ORT，教學味頗濃，我會歸類為guided reading, 因應情況逐個level閱讀；家長要留意自己的心態--不用急於教字和認字，慢慢來!　我仔仔五歲時好熱衷讀這系列，亦好自覺要升level，有點像學游水要升班一樣。而同一時間的bed time story，我會讀"How To Train A Dragon"等系列給他聽，只聽不看，但原來小小年紀的他都可以明白劇情發展。

五六歲開始他自行讀chapter books，已不再要求伴讀；現在只餘下bed time story，我轉為選讀中文故事，如紀曉嵐、康熙等。

Many thanks for your sharing and I do appreciate that so many experienced parents are willing to share here which really inspired me.

For my girl, surprisingly, she loves the stories of ORT series and she ‘s happy to see her friends Kipper, Chip, Biff and Floggy everytime whenever we open a ORT book. As at this stage, she can’t read the books on her own so I would read her Stage 2/3 stories.

The way forward, I will try to let her read book on her own, that is why I am looking for a wider variety of books. I will make reference from bookstart. Thanks a lot!a

Thanks spantan. So can you also share (1) at what age of your kid you started bedtime story and (2) at what age of your kid you started gudied reading?

明白，是用語不同的誤會。
絕對讚同，閱讀真的可以細分不同種類，現時仔仔七歲，在學校和家均是採用Raz kids 進行guided reading, 相當有效。另加之前提的book report training.
