No matter how great your ambition is, MS is still a better choice!
During the first round of P1 place allocation, MSPS gives around 230-240 places to MSK., this figure approximates to around 70% of MSK students. As some of those with MSPS offers may go to other dss/private/government/subsidized schools, in order to fulfill the promise of 85% places to be given to MSK, MSPS will admit more students from MSK in the second round. Let's say 15% of MSK students will go to other schools, and 70% of them will go to MSPS, around 15% will have no offers and will join the lucky draw in June. This is just my estimation, but I do think it is very close to the true figure.
Concerning the competitiveness, its a matter of the backup from families rather than which school kids are from. During the first round interview of P1 admission, teachers will choose a few hundreds out of a few thousands in a couple of minutes, so they will delete those who are shy, not outspoken, academically apparent to be not good. The naughty ones will be kicked out immediately no matter how clever/smart he is. As there are too many applicants, the teachers will screen out as fast as possible without checking which schools the kids are from. At the second in, excluding 2-3 schools, the academic standard of kids will be checked, the kindergartens again is not important. So, at the end, the performance of kids matters the most!
No matter in LH or MS, if you want your kids to go to top schools, both parents and kids need to work very hard.
LH have better support for P1 applications while MS has none as most of its students will go to MSPS.
Idont know the curriculum of LH, for the one in MS, I think the level of difficulty is appropriate and the workload is not heavy。
Put me in your shoes, I will choose LH as you are livng in TY.
