International at Guangzhou

Dear All,

Are there any parents whose kids are studying in GZ international school. We will be reallocated to GZ and I am searching for good international school in GZ for my four and half years old daughter. Is America Int'l School of GZ good? Thanks for sharing.

I am collecting information of Guangzhou International School. My cousin in Guangzhou recommends American International School of Guangzhou. They seem to have a very nice campus.

Have you think of local school in Guangzhou? Is there any local school with both English and Chinese syllabus? My concern is that my kids might find it difficult to shift to traditional Chinese when they are back to Hong Kong.

Dear Happyeasy,

I plan to let my daughter go to America Int'l school of GZ. I have visited their web site and am impressed. I don't have plan for local schools. I don't even think about it. I am not quite worry about the Chinese as I think finally she will have to learn both. Which one to start with is not a big concern for me.

If you have more information about schools in GZ, please share. Thanks.

Dear Happyeasy,

I had applied for my daughter as well. How old is your son? Mine is 4 yr 10 months. Have your son been accepted? Or you are waiting for interview.

I know there is another school called Utahloy. I had visited both schools. Utahloy has a better compus however my impression is American School is more professional and serious in academic.

Lets share if you have more information.

My son is 6 yr 9 months. We have submitted an online application and are still waitinig for an interview.

I have not visited the school yet. Do they allow walk-in visit or you have to make an appointment? I intend to visit GZ soon for housing and schools. My daughter is two and a half years old and we have not made up our mind whether to let her study at American International School or not. The kindergarten section is in Garden Hotel.

Dear Happyeasy,

I believe appointment is required. My company arrange for me, properly you can call the school. Have you sent them the application fee (USD500.00), they will only process your application if they receive the money.

I have visited the preschool section at Garden Hotel as well. It is small but nice.

I think you should also visit Utahloy in GZ. Thanks.

The AIS allow walk-in visit.  Last time,  we just go there.  My son is 19 mth and they can only allow me to apply when he is 3 yr for play group in Garden Hotel and 4 yr for kinergarten. I been talk to the people in the scholl and they said "kids before 3yr should be homing educate by mum". FYI, The kindergarten ion Garden Hotel will move to the island on next couples of years.

For me I still can not apply anything yet.  We need to come back to HK for playgroup. Anyway,  have you find any place in GZ yet??

Thanks for sharing. I understand that there will be interviews in March and April for the coming school year. Hope that my son will get a seat in AIS.

Hello all,
My hubby will be moving to work in GZ for one year starting this August. I am thinking of moving together with him. My son is now 26 months. Does it mean that he cannot start his schooling until he is 3 year old in GZ? That's bad because I may be working too. He is already at nursery in HK and he enjoy going to school a lot!
Would you know:
Is there any pre-nursery for child before 3 at GZ?
Can the child be admitted to school once he reaches age of 3 or does he need to wait for the new academic year start?
Please advise. Thx.

nana,

I understand that AIS is offering preschool programme for kids who are turning 3 and 4 years old by 1 November 2005. However, entry is quite competitive as they have priority for children of consulates. Your son is close to 3 years by November. You may contact the school to see if they can give certain flexibility.
