今年9月要為小朋友選小學, 剛上車的BK媽咪可否分享選校策略, 應該怎樣排位才有機會上心儀小學. 多謝!

Try to explain in the most simplest way:

If you only have one dream school in that net, you don't have choice as you must put it in the 1st choice no matter which round.

If in the net there are more than one dream school, and if the 2nd best is also acceptable.  Fill up the 1st choice with yr dream school in Round 2-Part A (hoping that you are very lucky) and fill up the 1st choice with that 2nd best in Round 2-Part B.   This can easily help you to get a seat in the 2nd best school.  After that you can still try to 'knock' door to yr dream school.

DOES IT MEAN THAT I PUT MY 1ST DREAM SCHOOL INTO THE 1ST POSITON OF PART A, AND PUT 2ND DREAM SCHOOL INTO THE 1ST POSITION OF PART B.  

CAN I MAKE THE FOLLOWING ARRANGEMENT?
1/  FILL 1ST DREAM SCHOOL BOTH IN 1ST POSITON OF PART A OR B.
2/  FILL 2ND DREAM SCHOOL ONLY IN 2ND POSITON OF PART B.

Yes of course you can.  Actually this is the most common strategy for parent as they just want to put their childred to the 1st dream school.

This is quite workable if the your 1st dream school not = most parents 1st dream school.  If yr 1st dream school is everybody 1st dream school, then by putting 1st dream school the the 1st position in both part do not do better for you.  Because it is just luck, if you are lucky you can rank earlier and get your 1st dream school before other.  By doing such it is not  策略 it is JUST LUCK.

If you are unable to get 1st dream school and when the computer start to evaluate 2nd position, you may end up competing with the same group of people.  If you do not have a good ranking you may even lose your chance to 2nd dream school.

BUT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE MEANING OF "when the computer start to evaluate 2nd position, you may end up competing with the same group of people. If you do not have a good ranking you may even lose your chance to 2nd dream school" IS.  PLEASE EXPLAIN CLEAR.

DOES IT WORK IF I PUT AS FOLLOW ORDER?
1/  1ST DREAM SCHOOL FILL IN 1ST CHOICE OF PART A & B
2/  2ND DREAM SCHOOL FILL IN 3RD CHOICE OF PART B

Teresa's analysis is correct for 甲部選擇 but unable   to explain my stratey for 乙部本區部分.  

Assume the following cases:
1st dream school has 10 seats
2nd dream school also has 10 seats
there are more than 10 students competing for 1st dream school

If yr random number is 11.  You will not be able to get 1st dream school but you are still able to get yr 2nd dream school.   But if you yr random number is 21 then you will fail to select both 1st dream school and 2nd dream school.

But if you choose 2nd dream school as yr first choice in 乙部本區部分, then you will get yr 2nd dream school because every parents are choosing 1st dream school as their first choice.

But this only assume you satisfy with 2nd dream school and do not want to take risk.  For most parents I think they still choose in the regular order.

I KNOW EVERY PARENT WILL FILL THEIR 1ST DREAM SCHOOL BOTH IN THE PART A & B, AND ALSO KNOW IT'S NOT A STRATEGY. BUT I AM AFRAID THAT I CANNOT BRAVE TO FILL MY 2ND DREAM SCHOOL IN THE FIRST POSITION OF THE PART B.  MAY BE I NEED MUCH TIME TO THINK ABOUT MY STRATEGY AGAIN.

選校策略 also depends on the dream shcools are fall into your School Network, if soem of the dream schools are outside your school network, then the ranking of your choice in "art A" will be different. You should put all the cross-network schools under "art A".
By theway, it does help if you put your dream school under "First choice" when you knock the door for a seat later on. It's hard to explain to the school that if you got your school in your first choice and you still knocking therir door but they are in the second position.
So you have to think about what you really want first.....good luck.
