Exactly. When I was a member of the HKYSO (playing assistant principal oboe), the oboe/English horn ... Those were the days. Right now, there are bulky supply of bassoon. Many schools compel the kids to start instrument learning from p1. I myself knows at least 3 little friends learning bassoon (from 3 different schools). one friend"s teacher who is from Apa takes my 9~10 year old kid friend to attempt grade 6 after 2 year learning bassoon. and another little friend takes grade 7 exam in p6. Although bassoon is an expensive instrument, it may be rather easier to play than other so there is rush in learning bassoon.
Oboe, is rather rare to me. only a pair of sisters I know learn it. they are from a same famous school.
