I think it's better like SPCC, before it changed to a DSS, they had raised a big fund from the alumn ... The school did it. But you know, it is not easy for Heep Yunn to raise big fund from alumni donations. Heep Yunn is well-known as a '平民女校'. The financial strength of Heep Yunn alumni and even their families may not be comparable to SPCC ones.
In fact, DSS schools have the responsibility to ensure no qualified students will be
deprived of admission for financial reason. If you look at the development of DSS
in the past 20 years, you will find that the DSS schools used to allocate a large portion of their income for scholarships and grants needy students. At the beginning of this century, most of the schools reserved 20% of the income and some even reserved up to 40%. In recent years, more and more elitist schools have been transformed to DSS schools and they charge very expensive school fees, 'DSS' is tagged as 'Aristocratic Education'. DSS schools have also started to cut scholarships and grants. Instead, they have invested their income on fixed properties and even stocks. Heep Yunn is not '慷他人之慨'. From my point of view, '協恩式直資' is nothing new. It just brings DSS education back to its origin. Maybe, at this moment, '彼此相愛 ,有施有受,愛即完全' is still a vision. But I am certainly happy to see Heep Yunn moving towards it. That is why I used '尊敬' instead of '尊重' in my original comment.
