Some of the Band 2 SJPS students did well in DSE. In fact, 4 or 5 of them are on the 2024 Honor Roll (i.e. top 30 SJC DSE performers).
Every year there are around 50 Band 2 students of SJPS promoted to SJC. As long as their English foundation is strong and with good committment in study, they can do well in DSE.

When my son was at SJPS 7 years ago, only the top 40 students will be considered as Band 1 by the school (the class teacher will give you a small slip indicating your banding in P6). Hence, 50 Band 2 students for SJPS is a fair estimation.
The small amount of Band 1 students of SJPS may be due to: -
1. A conservative estimation by the school;
2. Many girls' schools in Wanchai with better performance in Chinese; and
3. Schools have no feeders schools are more pushy, comparing to SJPS, in order to have a better SSPA results
Parents of SJPS should not too care about the banding of their boys unless they are targeting at other top secondary schools.
Two of my son's best friends were Band 2 students of SJPS but they did very well in DSE this year. Both of them are studying at a local medical school now.
