I was hoping he would at least got chance to be interviewed coz his performance was quite good as said by the teacher. However they didn't give a chance for that. So its a lesson learned!

yes - becaue he got ~zero point I think (no religion, old boy in family member, sports or big service but he got some music and ok academic).
