聖馬可中學(多收 band 1 中至尾學生) , 但近年成績好像下滑了不少。筲官 (收band 1及因為有聯繫官小, 所以也有收band 2 學生) , 個人認為筲官英語程度較好。兩者功課適中, 朋友的女兒都讀得很開心。除個別事件外(聽聞,早前兩間中學的幾名男生互毆,事件提昇至校方處理),兩間整體校風都不錯。

My Husband worry about "筲官" 官校的校師質素會差d, 而且會教得死板d或懶懶閒, 又或只注重精英班, 唔知有冇咁既情況呢?
朋友的女兒是讀"筲官" 嗎? What's her comment about her school? thanks.

My friends' daughters (both are studying F1, one in 聖馬可 and one in 筲官). They like their schools. Whether the teaching skill is dull or not depends on individual teachers and it applies to all schools.

我都心儀聖馬可 , 但聽講收生好嚴格, 如band1尾band2頭學生想在自選時報考, 有機會嗎? 說到成績好像下滑了不少, 知道是什麼原因嗎? thanks!

In 東區, there is a 直資英中(中華基金) near 藍灣半島 with a quite nice school environment.  Although 中華基金 cannot recruit 100% band1 students in 中一派位.  I think they can roughly recruit 70% to 80% band1 students in accordance to their strategy in the 中一派位. In 中一派位,  中華基金 intakes 60 students in 自行派位, 40 students in 統一派位 and finally 50 students in 叩門. I think 中華基金 can manage to intake most of band1 students in 自行派位 and 叩門.

As said by 中華基金 principal during their school briefing for 中一派位, his school belongs to the first batch of 直資中學 registered before year 2000 unlike the other 直資, say 港大同學會書院. Thus the Education Bureau allows 中華基金 to participate in 中一派位 with a bigger flexibility like the number of students for 叩門位.  Most aided secondary schools' 叩門位 are less than 10. Besides, the school fee of 中華基金 is not so high at about $1000 to $1500 per month as compared to other 名校直資 (DBS/SPCC) more than $3000 per month.

With respect to 港島民生書院(中中), it is located near Sai Wan Ho MTR also with a quite nice school environment.  It takes different approach to 中華基金 in 中一派位.  It allows only 30 students in 自行派位 and 144 in 中一派位. I think 港島民生書院 knows that it may not able to recruit all band1 students in 自行派位 if it offers the max. 60 自行派位 like other 英中 schools. But it is quite sure that it can recruit the band1 students in 中一派位 because most of band1 students' parents will choose it  as an insurance(頭 2 or 3 志願) in order not to allow their boys/girls falling into some unwanted band2 中中.

As I know that, both 中華基金 and 港島民生書院 are 校風整體都不錯. For 中華基金, other readers in this forum have made comments about it. In the current round of 中一派位.  If you are quite sure that your boy/girl is of band1 and want them to study
in 英中 rather than 中中 as an an insurance, you may try to put 中華基金 before 港島民生書院.

Finally, the best choice of 東區英中 for band1 students in order:-
1) BELILIOS PUBLIC SCHOOL (girls school) very competitive with very good HKCEE results)
2) CHEUNG CHUK SHAN COLLEGE
3) HONG KONG CHINESE WOMEN'S CLUB COLLEGE
4) CANOSSA COLLEGE (girls school)
5) ST MARK'S SCHOOL(整體校風 may not be as good as other 英中,  some of their students critically complaint their schools on the internet).
6) THE CHINESE FOUNDATION SECONDARY SCHOOL

It is hope that the above info may help you to select 東區英中.

聽講民生話係中中,但課程都唔係中中,好多都係英文/中英一齊,佢地隨時準備好轉英中了,唔知係咪因為咁,可以收到100% band 1 student

Thank you so much for your details information. Since my daughter belongs to Band 2 head only, she will start for Secordary in 2009. Therefore, I can choose from 4) CANOSSA COLLEGE (girls school) only. Do u have more info about St Mark's? Do u know what happen of this "some of their students critically complaint their schools on the internet" ?

One more question, do not know any news about 民生 when will change to 直資, if it propose to change next year, I will consider 中華基金 better than 民生 if both need to pay the school fees.
