Have you asked the school?  Several classmates of my kid did not accept the offers.  So chances are still there.

I think it definitely can help:
1) to show your sincerity
2) to remind the school about your kind when they process the 2nd round review.

No matter it's work or not, at least, you have tried and will have no regret at all.

Will you pay a visit to SSC on 6/7 or 7/7 before the registration dates?  If you meet the Principal or her Deputies, you will have a chance to show your eagerness and sincere.
