我囡當年在 Ardingly 完成 Year 12-13 IB，冇讀過其他英國學校所以冇得比較。她在 Ardingly 認識的朋友都係正正經經讀書嘅，當年 head boy 用 sport scholarship 去咗 Harvard

我諗睇吓你想要啲咩嘢。對選擇英國寄宿學校，我日誌有紀錄心得，你可以參考下睇吓有冇用。

至於呢四間學校，我個人就會先睇全寄宿比例：
- Ardingly（～1050人，～300個boarder仲包weekly/flexi）
- Haileybury（～920人，～530個boarder包weekly/flexi）
- Uppingham（～840人，～750個full boarder）
- Cheltenham College（～740人，～580個boarder包weekly/flexi）
好明顯呢方面，Uppingham係最好嘅選擇，Haileybury有大約50%都可以接受。Cheltenham雖然都有50％，不過以我所知有唔少週末會返屋企，其實係假50%。而Ardingly就唔係咁理想喇。

至於睇local reputation（即係本土英國人眼中嘅名氣），Uppingham係最高，二線中游。跟住就係Ardingly同埋Haileybury，相對最低就係Cheltenham College，頂多算3線學校。

當然個別學校有個別特色，例如Uppingham保留寄宿好重要嘅house dining，Haileybury因為歷史原因所以CCF同射擊隊比較強等等。

國際寄宿生基本上擇優而取
周末留宿多數國際生

近九成寄宿 入學難度媲美頂級女校

想問一下，呢d 其實都係一d 比較 hardcore 的資料，有沒有一d 比較個人化 或 親身經驗可以分享一下？學校有幾著重學生的寄宿生活，及當中的寄宿生活文化有重要性的影響

對學業固然有要求，但寄宿生活體驗也是重點


我也明其實由一間"寄宿"學校收穫幾多，又好睇個學生的個性，謝謝

Uppingham 傳統寄宿學校
寄宿基本上係 Full 無 Weekly/Flexi
上年9月才開 Day House 收多啲日校生

Nigel Breakwell will be the inaugural Housemaster of Uppingham’s first Day House, assuming the role from September 2024.

Nigel is already well-known to Uppingham as a Business Studies teacher and tutor, as well as having supported his wife Christina in New House, one of our girls’ boarding houses, for many years.

Nigel’s journey to education was preceded by a successful tenure in sales and management, culminating in his role as Managing Director of a food importation and exportation company in 2002. In 2006, he returned to education to obtain his degree in Sports and Exercise Science at Loughborough University alongside a teaching qualification, having discovered a passion for training and education earlier in his professional career.

Throughout his teaching career, Nigel has assumed various leadership positions in secondary academies, including Head of House, Head of Year, and most recently, Assistant Principal. His expertise in school leadership, gleaned from his extensive experience within School Extended Leadership Teams, has been insightful when supporting his wife in her role as Housemistress of New House.

Outside the classroom, Nigel is a passionate sportsman, with his interests including squash, golf, rugby, swimming and Thai boxing. Nigel and his wife share a love of travel, and recently took a road trip through France, Italy and Greece, with Nigel making an effort to learn Greek in order to more easily communicate with Christina’s family. During time away from School, they also enjoy the cinema, dining out and going for long dog walks in the countryside.

Nigel’s professional and teaching backgrounds, as well as his impressive knowledge of day school life, boarding, and Uppingham itself, will allow him to fully support day pupils in Uppingham’s first day house.
