下個星期學校只有三級 (S1, S3 & S5) 學生返學炸！因為中二全級去北京，中四全級 Outward Bound ，而中六及中七就一早放假應付公開試，相信學校會冇咁噪吵了！

Dear all parents,

It is very nice to meet you here and may I have your opinions regarding SPC.  My son is a P6 pupil and doing Band 1(I think so) in Sham Shui Po.  He has gotten an offer from SPC for F1 coming September. Now, I wonder that what would you SPC with Wah Yan (Kowloon)? If he accepts SPC (deadline 30 March 2012)  and would not have chance to take Wah Yan (Kwoloon) because he will be withdrawn from "government central place allocation system". May I have your opinions? Thanks you very much.

Dear alexpang1999,

Both schools are good. Being a parent of SPC, I have no reservation to recommend the college.  Except that a tuition fee is needed for SPC but the school has spent well with the monies.  

However, WYK is also a very good school. My friend's son had graduated from WYK a few years ago, he was not very strong in academic but WYK had given him a very good all-rounded education.  Now, he is in Baptist U, after spending sometime in doing a associate's degree, and doing part-time job to bring in extra incomes, a respectable young man and son.

Both schools have been suffered from some heavy barrage on their academic standard, but I found that the two schools are in very similar style.   They allow their boys to be all-rounded responsible young men.  

If yr son has over 75% chance going to WYK, in my opinion, u should take the chance to wait for WYK, because of the shorter traveling time and the savings in school fee.

If you want to save some worries nights before July, and don't mind the traveling time & fees (many SPC boys are living in the Kowloon side), then SPC is never a wrong choice.

Very thank you for your valuable opinions.  I am very glad to hear "No reservation to recommend" from you.

My concern is that my son's primary school to KWY is 2005(8 boys),06(10), 07(8), 08(9), 09(no data) and 10(4). The trend for KWY is dropping and he ranked 10th in form 3rd term (expect he ranks 10-15th in form graduation).

$38,000 annual school is affortable for me.  We live in Kwai Chung and I expect the travelling time from home to SPC and KWY would be 20 minutes more a trip.  My wife worries about travelling time but I expect a boy would be trained to be tough in anyway.

Would you commment on atmoshpere of learning?

The learning atmosphere is quite different from class to class and even from group to group inside the same class.  

My boy is in the Scout, last year the elder boys and graduates had helped the junior boys, during Carlton competition.  In my boy's class, it seems that some boys do love competing with one another.  Some smart boys are really smart and can handle both academic works and ECA well, anyway, the school encourages boys to take up ECA, they now call ECA as OLE other learning experience and OLE is important part of learning.

Although the school has stopped posting their open exam results from a couple of years ago, that does not mean the school giving freehand on academic.  A comment, from both schools' (both WYK & SPC) students & old boys, is that the two schools teach in an easy manner but give difficult exams.  The school now only reports their students' outstanding achievements in the Universities, you can find those reporting from this link: http://www.spc.edu.hk/content.php?id=47&mid=2-96 .   I guess that it is a response to their DSS review report 2008, you can find the report via this link:   http://www.edb.gov.hk/FileManage ... t_pauls_college.pdf , please read section 5 TEACHING.

This report is worth every current and would be parent reading and you can go through that report before making up your mind.

By the way,  I heard there are six F.1 class of total around 200 students, (I do not know the total class number of whole school).  Is there enough  classrooms for "one class one classroom".  Thanks.

Yes, there are enough class rooms.  S1 is on level 1 and so on so forth.

I found that there is no fixed rule.  The school wishes all the boys join at least one trip, with sponsorship of about HK$ 3k.  If some boys joined more than one trip, the sponsorship may be less or none.

However, you can see from the link, for this year S2 visit to Beijing, it is all free.  School teams training may have higher sponsorship.

各位spc家長,你地好.亞仔剛收到spc offer,看過開放日,我好喜歡這學校,老師也大力推薦,認為好啱亞仔,好自由,唔谷,但是老公話經濟問題唔讀,我好唔捨得,又驚大抽獎唔好會後悔,請問spc家長有冇人會申請減免學費,是否經濟唔好唔好揀spc,否則阿仔會有無形壓力,校內會否很多雜費,如課外活動,遊學...希望能了解多d這學校,謝謝!

应該有，但学校保密，妳不防找黃副校或麥副校问一问。打总机转就可以！
雜费在合理水平，其实学校有不用费用的外訪，如今年 S２ 去北京，中四去外展等。同學间沒有大多的身家拼比，比成績和運动就多些，小學時更曾禁用貴筆。
