As you know, my question is and never has been between Kentville & SC, but rather Keen Mind and SC.  What I dislike most about SC is the vast number of kids.  The attention given to each kid is likely to be little as compared to Keen Mind.  Anyway, I still have a long time to think it over.  I have also decided to give up Stafford.

Same as your case, we are from downunder (Sydney though), SC should be a better choice (as opposed to Kentville) for Daniel.  Besides, he is a very adventurous kid, loves to explore, express himself and meet challenges.  I don't want to suppress his creativity and thinking.  I believe he can cope with traditional teaching method but this is definitely not the best for him.  I was also told that kids are disciplined in SC but only not as much as in Kentville which I kind of prefer.  (I don't like to go for the extremes!)  I will not go to Kentville today and so I can save $550.  We both share the concern now about shifting to AM session.  Daniel is also starting to go to bed late but he still wakes up early in the morning.  I just can't think of a sound reason to request for change but I've got to be quick.  Any ideas?

jc-mom is right.  Keen Mind is a very good school too.  Actually, I am still struggling whether to let Daniel stay or go to SC.  If we have decided to stay, Ian and Daniel can be classmates.  By the way, Ian-king was right behind me when I sent Daniel to school yesterday.  He is adapting very well.  I really like his face with gigantic eyes!

My son is in N1C, not classmates but you are so lucky to have Miss Lee.  She seems to be the most experienced N1 teacher in Keen Mind.  She has such a good memory.  She even knows my son even though he is not in her class.  (or perhaps it is because my son is exceptionally naughty)

I heard that they use Montesorri method, how does it work? Is it a big school, many classes? It seems your children are very happy there, do they have lots of homework?

wbmom, actually,  my son is studying in there for only 1 month.  I only can tell you that he loves to go to school.  by the way, the teacher will call you up during the first two weeks to inform you that your kid's status, how's their reaction and feedback in school.  Therefore, I found that our class B Ms. Liu also is good teacher as on this Friday she called me up to remind me on the memo from school she informed me that my son was the first time raise his hand and showed up and sang a song.  she mentioned that she felt very surprised and happy about his reaction and Ian sang the song with correct notes.   I was very surprise and happy about it too.

係呀,Daniel係由11月開始搭校車,finally你搭邊架車返學呀?Bus or train?遲D會唔會俾Naoki試下搭校車呀?本來SC一直都係我first choice,但我E家又開始唔捨得Keen Mind班數少,學校對每個小朋友monitor得好D,我暫時未100%決定轉,Kentville就直頭放棄左無交錢.

Most of us here are N1 parents (2 year old class).  My son takes home one 親子功課every week.  It usually contains 4 pages,
(1)colouring (theme of the week)
(2)Chinese (the Chinese character they learn during the week)
(3)English (the alphabet they learn during the week or revision of previous weeks)
(4)Mathematics/Colours/Shapes/Sizes.
They have one whole week to complete the homework so I won't consider that is a lot.  There are also some ad-hoc projects, eg. writing up a recipe, which is actually "mommy's homework".

I also know they use Montessori approach but don't know how it works.

My daughter (Renee) also born in Dec 2002 and will be attending pre-nursey afternoon session by Jan 05.

My daughther could sleep 4 hours for afternoon nap.
However, she is a flexible person that she don't sleep during the weekend afternoon.

Looking forward to meet your son when new term starts.

Yes, it is only a typo.  Shall start school on Jan 3. The school advised us that relevant info should be mailed to us by mid-Dec.  I still haven't asked my family doctor to complete the doc yet.  In addition, I also need to arrange school bus for my daughter.

You are correct. SC K1係雙班主任制(1local1外藉),外藉老師陪足成日架,但SC K2就唔係,外藉老師只係每日入班房一段時間(I was told it would be around 30 minutes),本來我就唔係幾鍾意,不過我接觸過既SC小朋友都能放膽回答外國人問題,所以我相信SC有佢地既辦法,同stay嚮班房時間長短無關.我都聽過有D國際班(not SC)既外藉老師成日粒聲唔出,淨係自己果part先唱下歌仔,講講故事,唔主動接觸小朋友,D小朋友naturally will be more attached to the local teacher,o甘外藉老師掛名全日棟嚮度都無用,其實D外藉老師既質素真係好參差.劍鳴K1就肯定無雙班主任,外藉老師陪幾耐就唔知,不過質就重要過量囉.

我都知Shatin area有2架校車,我都早呀,係第二個站,8:00am上車,不過Daniel早起身,都搞得掂,淨係催大少爺換衫要角力囉,你果度幾點鐘上車呀?

Welcome.  I am not a parent from the PM session but if I remember correctly, there are quite a number of them here.  It's only they don't come here as often as we do.
