My son is accepted too and he is studying in ST M M a.m. class as well. So, he'll be the third one who's going to leave this school.

My boy is the 4th one. But, my case is more complicated as my boy is accepted by St. Stephen Girls' College Kindergarten also. Though it is a girl school, i like it very much with its good academic standard and Eng. level.
Rossikwan- did u receive my p.m. yesterday, our boys are classmates.

Congratulations, centre.  I also heard St. Stephen Girls' College Kinder is a good school.

In deed, it is easy to get in St. Jo (only 220 candidates for 80 seats), but hard for parents to make the change/decision.

Congratulation!!, Your boy must be very smart then. I know the St Stephen gilrs is a good school, but think about the consequances. If u take St Stephen Girls, u have to look for a primary shcool for your boy agiain in the next coming year which I can tell u it is not a easy thing to do!! I almost killed myself few years back when my elder girl didn't got in a good primary school.
This is just my experience, good luck on what ever choice u make!!

妳講得幾有道理，依家轉去 St. Joseph，主要都係為左 P1，就萛唔係直升，起碼都知道有乜野門路去叩頭，或者搵校長寫介紹信去第二d 小學...

I saw the latest candidate is No.249, so I believed that there are around 250 children in the pool. Our boys are top 80 out of 250, isn't it great???

I hve asked some of my freinds whose boys were the old one of the school. The chance of getting in the primary section is around 90%.  I think it is a great chance.  

As a parent, we can only do our best and provide them with the best (we believe) environment to them. By the end of the day, whether they make it or not is entirely up to them, but at lease we will have no regret!!

Nice to meet you too.  Have to decided to change your kid to St Jo or still thinking ?  Which area are you living ?  HK or Kowloon side ?  There is a mami said she think St JO is going to change (or have such possibility) to DSS, it could be the reason for accepting 80 students only.  I am asking her for more details.

My son also accepted. Nice to meet all mami here. My husband also wonder why around 80 students only, if the others planning for related party or decrease to 3 class only???

Is DSS mean direct subsidise school? If so, I will be quite disappointed, as I would like to enjoy the free education after paying the tax for so many years!!!!

Just being a bit curious that what was the no. of applicants last year ?  Anyone knows ?

I personally think boys are better in boys school at the primary school status because their development is a bit later than girls in average.  And also the strength is different.  In HK island, there are not many choices for boys when compare to girls.  Correct me if I am wrong.

I agree with you, but I do have a mix feeling about this news / guess / thought ... etc.

Seems most of the reputable schools are pursuing to become DSS, even King's, however, since it is a government school, it can't.

When St Paul Convent (in Causeway Bay) changed to DSS, the exisitng students still can enjoy the 'no tuition fee' benefit unless they have to repeat.  If anyone has to repeat, then she will fall into the new policy (need to pay school fee).  

Even if St Jo will change to DSS, depends on WHEN. Whether it is 'before' or 'after' you son has entered to P.1.   Of course 'after' is better.

I would like to make a remark here that I know nothing about the news of  'St JO - changing to DSS', I just learnt this 'saying' or even 'guessing' from another ST JO chatting forum.   I am not intending to spread any false news, I also want to know the truth only.

A P1 mami fm St Jo, she say never heard about the news, maybe her son finish Primary, so not these two year event at all.  Otherwise, the primary school will much affacted.

You mean we need to pay for the primary after 2 yr Kinder?  We pay tax, but never get any benefits?!!!
