But speaking of this QS ranking, why does QS put a strong emphasis on the intl student and faculty ratios? It seems that it has nothing to do with the $.

受惠於內地生是計算入國際生 (教員也是一樣計法), 所以, 香港大學可以在"國際學生佔比"和"國際教員佔比"這兩個範疇, 拿到100分滿分, 分數比美國哈佛和英國牛津等頂尖名校還要高.

這兩項佔總分的一成, 而大學與大學的差距, 有時只差0.1或0.2分 (out of 100).

在"國際學生佔比"上, 美國哈佛81.4分, 牛津 98.6分, 港大100分.

The purpose of admitting international students is to enhance the diversity of the student mix for the exchange of cultural, social and economic systems between local and non local students besides the increase of the revenue.
Many HK teenagers have a better understanding of foreign countries than their own. In that sense, Mainland students can help local students to have a better understanding of our country as well as global awareness.

Interesting!

In fact, a lot of New Yorkers and Bostonians have minimal exposure to midwest and southern states. If the same principle applies, Harvard, Columbia and NYU should also be able to get a 100% score on these ratios.

Different states in US share the same legal system and education system while there are still substantial differences between Mainland and HK in terms of legal and education systems.
