Yes, it's really tough. Maybe partly because they are also competing with the gap year re-applicants accumulated over past 2 years, and some with inflated grades too? Anyway, I'm sure your daughter will do well and be able to meet the COs! Hope your daughter and mine can be classmates soon!
I would like to ask:
If got rejected in UCAS, after getting the DSE result, can my daughter go to the rejected U to apply/try again? She got rejected from U of Edinburgh and Imperial Colleage.
DSE students are in a better position during the Clearing stage. It usually starts at the beginning of July. DSE results (as well as IB) released much earlier than ALevel, it means that DSE students can start the Clearing application earlier, when the available places have still not yet been taken by ALevel students.
My experience is
(1) check the Clearing Vacancy and find the targeted course
(2) go to the Uni website and find the contact details
(3) call them or contact them via email (depends on what the website says), submit the result as well (ask the student (not parent) to call or send the email)
(4) they will reply (but sometimes takes a week or so) and then follow what further action is required
Alternatively, find an agent to help after you have identified the targeted course.
Check if any Uni fair conducted after the DSE result release and apply the Clearing Vacancy on the spot.
Whether it will be considered after the A Level release is a matter for the Uni. Our experience is that they will deal with it before the A Level result.
