I would like to apply K2 of CAIS in 2007 and now is looking for K1.  Can any of you give me a suggestion?

What's the full name of CAIS? Where is it? Does it teach Chinese language too?

The full name of CAIS is "Christian Alliance International School".  It's located at Kowloon City, near 播道醫院.  I'm not quite sure if they have Chinese Language Program or not.  But it should have, co'z I found they have Chinsese Sunday School!

Hope can share as follows :

- They starting from K3 to Grade 12 for applicant;
- Two language for your selection, Mandrain or   French class twice a week
- Sunday school run by Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance (KTAC)

Are you CAIS parents?  Would you mind to tell me which kinder did your children study before he/she/they go this school ?

For me, It is definite a good school, also I concern the student's discipline, homeroom teacher, school location, learning environment and tuition.  

I didn't know how to compares with ICS & ESF., these are different type, steam and background, most directly to depend on your's paving future way.  right!

ICS -  more famous than CAIS, Both are the christian school are good reputation.

CAIS -  academic program based upon a Canadian curriculum and  christian education.

ESF -  tradition school and English cicurriculum.

Thanks for sharing. I'm also interested to get my son into CAIS & Yat Sun, particularly because they have Chinese lessons. For CAIS, would you tell me:

- do they teach traditional Chinese characters?
- can the teachers and pupils speak fluent English?
- is Cantonese the common language among the pupils?
- do they encourage the pupils to read a lot? to think & experiment?

Sorry for many questions. I really want to know.

You're wellcome !  Let sharing...... if I know that.

- If you take a Mandrain class, they have provided it to learn twice a week, of course teaching basic Chinese words but can't compares with local school.
my son was learnt the French class now, so not clearly to show you regarding the Chinese character.

- All of them is foreign teachers, all student's speaking english only allowed.  

- Cantonese is not common language and not allowed spoken in school area, even Janpanese or Korean language too !
because they all come from different country and don't know how to speak Cantonese w/you.
under a few student is from Local.

-CAIS have read-a-thron scheme and award, strongly to encourage the student's reading everyday, even in the bathroom he...he!
also the bible education starts from K section  to Grade 12. often to irrigate kind heart for the young childs in the classroom.

The school is really attractive to me. Is your son happy there? Would it be difficult to get into the school (e.g. long waiting list, prefering expats' kids, requiring the kids to speak English well in the interview??)

Yes sure, he very enjoy and love the school life.   

Prefer- fluent English process the interview ;
         - " one to one " system process in the   interview room
         - holding any awarded & certificate issue from  kinder( if you have got it )
         - If the parent's can came to attend the interview are prefect ! ( most important )

Sorry......I'am not make sure answer this.....coz's  only 2 class for K, morning & afternoon of each.  You better make a phone call to CAIS enquiry, they are willing to answer this.

I heard that there was a dispute about the extension of the Principal's contract and also Mrs Linda.  As of today, all these dispute have been settled.  My kid will be getting in this Sept, but I also want to know what was happened over the last few month. Could you share?

Nice to meet you here.  :wink:  We know are not many, brings the influence to the guardian and the teacher not to be big, I extrapolated involves the KTAC., committee internal affairs.

What's the language you will talk with you child at home?  In Cantonese or English?

As I understand that the student always borrow the books from school, do you fell it is difficult to tell the English book to your child?

Have you send you child to attend any Chiness/English class after school?

Busy for moving new house......sorry for my late reply.
He was usually talk with me in English at home, and I will talk with him in Cantonese.
Oh...not, he was enjoy reading & spelling, since for IN1 kinder many words can able recongnizable and stronger memory, after school share me something learnt from his home-room teacher.
He have different type of book at home e.g. science, bio-organ,country name and location, dinosaur's scientific name, disney's story, bible and some hot topic cartoon's series all reading by himself, of course he will ask me how to read when he don't understand.

chinese words meaning and writing is our favourite item, we will teach him by ourselves.

Are you looking for the school bus? it really difficult to find it, same with my last year this case, end up full occupied in mid-Sept then may take the school bus of afternoon.
I will pays attention of this for you!

Yes, I'm looking for the school bus. My girl will join the p.m class from this Sept. I live in Wong Tai Sin, I call the school bus diver and he said the time is not suitable and I'm the only one student in WTS.

I have a few questions concerning the school and hope you can help answer them. Thanks in advance!

1. How religious is the school? Do they spend an enormous amount of time on their bible study? We are Catholics, and not sure if there'll be too much conflict if my son joins the school.

2. About the Student Fees, will the school provide us with the breakdown? What is it supposedly for?

3. What stationeries do we need to provide our kid before school starts? Will the school give us a list? Do we need to get our own schoolbag, pencils, color pencils, etc.?

4. On average, how much homework do the students have everyday?

5. Does the school have lockers or drawers that allow students to leave some of their books at school? Just concern about those heavy schoolbags that most local school students have to deal with everyday.

6. Does the school provide school bus services? What about from Tseung Kwan O to school?

Any inforamtion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again in advance for your time and help.

Does CAIS has a PTA (Parent-Teacher Association)? If so, how effective is it? If not, how do parents usually communicate, like raising concerns or giving suggestions, with the school?

We're busy for moving new house.....sorry for my late reply.   You're so wellcome!  Let just share with together here.

1. Christian Only
-The school will spend a lot of time to teach the bible. ( just like our take subject of chinese histroy, geography...etc )
-I don't think will have any influence for differemt religious believer.

2. Yes, they have three terms of tuition payment menthods ;
-Annual, Quarterly and Monthly
Monthly tuition payment menthod need black and white to Headmaster for applying.   It just for account's reference only! If the school policy are no any change.

3. No need !  bring your own backpack inside with bottle of water, snack box and cardigan for school bus.

4. As I know everday have class work to doing.
-Every Monday have Journal report need to return for next Monday.
-Every Day 2  need borrow book from school library then return next Day 2

5. Locker rental all students from grades 5 to 12 are issued lockers.
-some text book, bible and phonics will left the classroom until graduate before return to home.  Don't worry too much of heavy backpack.

6. School bus sevices company are directly to parnet's, not between the parent and the school.
I'm not make sure that because I will be move to Yau Tong on Mid-Sept.
We make a call to coordinator, He answer Yau Tong have provided school bus service for "very" early morning!
