I would learn Spanish for America market, would learn German for europe. French, hmmm. the phoenic quite romantic to me.

My child and I have been taking up some Spanish by ourselves (since I've learned it long ago) and we have been looking for some better way to brush it up. Any idea?
I've known of some classes, like in Yew Chung, QQ Club, Berlitz and 東山 etc.
Has any of you had any experience with these schools and classes?
I have also learned French in college and had a chance to use some of  it at work. But personally I feel Spanish is a little easier to pick up than French. Not only in pronunciation, but also in grammar.
My daughter and I are just talking in simple Spanish at home sometime.
It would be much better to have some mates around, especially for my daughter!

嚇﹐我都有學西班牙文﹐其實西班牙文同法文﹐意文等同樣源自拉丁文﹐可以話識一種既話﹐學其他幾種都容易好多﹐即使唔識講﹐都估到其他文係咩意思。

西班牙文定法文﹐我會揀西班牙文﹐原因好實際﹐同sks所講一樣﹐識左中文﹐英文﹐西班牙文﹐去邊度都唔駛驚溝通唔到。法文好似好浪漫﹐但少機會用囉。

記得小女讀一年班前, 學校都有問:如果學校一年班有第三種語言,家長會揀法文?德文?or西班牙文? 最後學校開法文, 我自己都揀左法文, 我想應該是最多父母會揀法文.

點解會揀法文?
1. 去法國旅行時喜歡上了法國
2. 和英文有d相以, 較容易讀
3. 加拿大有些地方法語是法定語言
4. 覺得德文的字很長
5. 對西班牙語沒有認識

個人感覺，hispanic 人口雖多，但大部份都比較草根。如果你做 retail，可能真係好有用。
現實 d ，我會首選 french 或 german ，次選 italian 甚至japanese，我自己當年都係學 french。
french 在 canada & europe 都有用，german 亦在 europe 有用，尤其於科技界。

人口 should not be the only reason,
esp. if that 人口 is concentrated in one region.

我覺得yyyy答了你既問題﹐因為唔多人認識西班牙文﹐以前流行法文﹐德文﹐咪多人學囉﹐跟住又流行日文﹐宜家唔駛講一定係最多人學普通話﹐仲列入基本課程添。

I agreed with Darth,

Beside I think French pronunciation is difficult than Spanish. It's better to let young children to learn the French first (small kid easier to catch up the pronunciation and accent) than Spanish. As mentioned before French, Spanish and Itlian all are from Latin. They have similar grammar and words, learnt one of them, then it's easier to learn another. So choose the one with a bit hard to say, especially very young children most of them learn thru sing & play

Both are useful.  I learned French first and then Spanish.  For pronunciation, French is much more difficult to master. I agree with YANBB .... it's easier for kids to pick up the complicated sounds of French at an earlier age.  Spanish sounds are more straightforward, only the "r" and "rr" sounds are more difficult.

For me and my kid, I would prefer French first.
