Highgate House School

I have just applied for admission to their nursery class for my son who has just turned 2.  Any comments on the course welcome !  Thanks !

my baby started the parent & child class with highgate house at about 1 and nursery at 2. till now, we are very satisfied with everything.

Thanks !  Are the students mostly non-Chinese or is there a good mix ???  Are you planning the international school route for your baby ???  Please advise !

students are mainly native and i didn't hear students talk in cantonese or mandarin when i came across kindergarten's students during their toilet time.

likely we'd put my baby in international schools as planned.

but unlike others whom plan to send children to IS, we are a very "cantonese" family and do talk in cantonese at home, supplemented with english some of the time. we believe baby can learn through play, including langauges.

This is very helpful ... thank you so much !  Is your BB attending classes at other nurseries ???  Mine is going to Woodlands, Victoria and Children's Own Workshop (Montessori class) simultaneously...

Why did you choose Higate House BTW and why have you decided to send your BB to IS ???  I'd like my boy to speak good English but am really afraid that if I do send him to IS, he becomes a "banana" (yellow outside, white inside)... !!!

My plan (at present) is to send him to Higate House's nursery class from September onwards and supplement by Montessori class and/or Woodlands Stepping Stones class...

no. highgate house is our only preference after our first visit there, in terms of their environment and their steiner approach. actually we didn't play any further visits to other schools after we had been to highgate house.

hm.. we chose highgate house because my husband had recalled a TV program featuring highgate house and he saw so many happy faces on kids in which we found that's really true on our visit. then we picked highgate house as our only choice.

the reason why we preferred IS, hm.. my baby is kind of active one and we preferred to get rid of duck-feeding education as what we had had.

we don't doubt if our baby speaks good english or not, a happy childhood and early age schooling weights more important to us. kids pick up languages quickly anyway.
