ESF vs ESF discovery bay vs RC

Do you know what is the difference between ESF, ESF discovery bay & RC?
As shown in the ESF website, the language requirement in ESF discovery bay includes both chinese and English.  I just know this difference and the tutition fee of ESF discovery bay is the most expensive among these three.

ESF Discovery and RC - both are PIS (Private Independent School).  RUn by ESF Educational Services Ltd. IB from Year 1 - Year 13

ESF - receives subsidy from the HK GOVT. IB only the in the senior section.

Guess there is no perfect world....when we want more Chinese, then English will diminish a bit....if all English, then Chinese environment isn't there.  Do you find that your kids are using Chinese more than you want while at school when they're with Chinese kids?  How are their English progressing then?

As far as I have seen, kids studying in ESF since they are small usually do not like learning or reading Chinese even they attend after school tutor classes.  Will those studying in RC like Chinese a bit more as they have at least 1 Chinese class daily?

Is the entrance requirement of RC and DB different to those of ESF (in terms of the catergory - non chinese speaking kid has the first priority)?

RC and DB basically do not give priorities to non-Chinese speaking kids, but they also require high proficiency in English.  You can check their admission policies from their websites.

My son is on DB ESF waiting list. The school said the chance for him to get in this is very slim. Anyone have similar situation? What school do you intend to send your kid for P1 while waiting?
Will you consider the bilingual Primary school as second choice? ( for example PLK Choi Kai Yau , Victoria or Kiangsu & Chekiang?)

From my conversation with the staff over the phone, they more or less admit students based on the date of application.

The situation of DBS is from different RC as many parents in DB will sign up for any IS available in DB where unfortunately has only 1 at the moment and that special 1 only offer primary education. The consequence is that DBS has been over-subscribed for grade 1 admission although I still cannot see its premise yet. All grade 1 student will be travel 40 minutes single trip in the highway to Lai King and study in a rather old local school converted premise for their first year. Even after the school started 2008, I would still doubt the completion of all facilities.

Due to the uncertainty about the startup DBS, we finally sign up our kid to the old ESF at Stubbs Road and will have to travel in ferry every day the coming academic year. This actually gives us the flexibility when we move out of DB. Luckily, my kid find ferry riding a fun experience. In fact, I find it fun too as it is much more comfortable than taking MTR!

Will wait to see how ESF DBS operate in the first 2 years, then decide if we should apply there.

I did not apply ESF at the begining because I like my son to learn more Mandarin ( DB ESF have more Mandarin class than ESF school).  I am not sure if I should apply ESF school or appy bilingual school.  I understand the ESF school will give a very good environment for kids to speak English while kids in bilingual school only speak cantonese among themselves.
