Re: Anfield

my son was attending their play group last term, i was very satisfy with their teaching method, but i know that not all teachers (indon.) are nice there, very lucky, my son's class teacher is the nice one.

Their classroom is quite old and they do not have enough equipment all the time, e.g. Apron.

The spoon for eating lunch is very old as well..

Re: Anfield

teacher uma is good but the school is not good.
you are lucky if your child has been assigned to her class.

if you are interested in enrolling to the playgroup or prep program offered by Anfield, be sure that your child is in Uma's class (cannot be promised by the admin staff, even if they give you the promise, don't trust on them), or else, don't enrol.  just a waste of time and money.

i am not the only one who feel so.

also, the school policy of allowing only one adult to keep the child's company to school is nonsense, they consider only the environment of the school but not the situation of the family, they should be more flexible.

Re: Anfield

yes, i agree with ladyfung.  uma is a good teacher but the school is not a good school, very ridig and will not consider the need of the child and family.

I mean only the playgroup and prep-program, the way they assign the children to class is really bad.  They will not consider the level and psychological need of the child but only the no. of enrollment.

Really disappointment.

Re: Anfield

I've just send my application form and fee ($800 ) I've visited the school and talked to Elsa.  She gave me a very good impression.  So, could u pls tell me more about the school?  How rigid?  How do they ignore the psychological needs of the children?  This is very important for a kid.  My boy is a very active boy.  I want him to know more discipline but not rigid rules.  I know one rigid rule is that no parent is allowed to accompany the kid (from K1) on the school bus.  I really hate this rule.  Accompanying our kids on the school bus is not a way to make them dependant, but a way to ensure their safety, since they're only 3-5 years old.

Re: Anfield

Hi mothers,

I have enrolled my boy for the Pre-programme which started on 11 July.  It is OK so far, there were only five kids in my boy's class and the content of the programme is fine.  Since this is the frist ever programme that my son attends, therefore it is difficult for me to comment as there is no comparison to others.  To my impression, the teachers are very experienced.

Re: Anfield

Strange to me...
Isn't it the rule of all kindergartens that from K.1 no parent can accompany the children in the class and school bus ?
And, for the playgroups, usually the schools would only allow one adult, in order to control the total no. of people in the class, that's very fair to me. And, it should be enough for one adult to look after one kid ?
Furthermore, Uma is the teacher for K.1, not playgroup or prep-programme wor (maybe they made the changes for next year ?)
My son had been studying in Anfield for 3 years, from prep-programme to K.2. I'm satisfied with the school, my son is very happy too. Most of the teachers are good.

Re: Anfield

Dear all,

Thank you for sharing your experience about Anfield.  I know some of you might have some positive or negative comments regarding to this school or teachers.  Could you please explain a bit more in details?  I really appreciate if I can learn more from you before I make decision to enroll to the Fall term.

I've done the first lesson with teacher Uma.  I think she is a experienced teacher.  Since our class has 10 kids and 10 adults, it is a bit crowd and sometimes out of control.  I think 8:1 will be much better for such baby playgroup.

Re: Anfield

Dear all,
My two kids have been attending Anfield's playgroup, pre-programme and kindergarten since they're 18 months old. I'm satisfied with the school. Their teachers are nice and considerate. Their curriculum is good. My two kids are very active. They learn discipline there and enjoy their school time very much.

Teacher Uma is both K1 and Saturday pre-programme's teacher. She also teaches summer class' pre-programme.

For the school bus, one adult can accompany with a playgroup/ pre-programme kid without paying extra fee. But for kids in kindergarten, if adults want to accompany with their kids, extra fee has to be paid. I think that is the policy of all school bus.

Re: Anfield

Hi ahgooma,

Which class/day are your son in?  Who is the teacher?  I think your class has only five kids seems much more comfortable and easy to control.  My son's class (Sat playgroup) has 10 kids and of course 10 adults seems very crowded.  Are you going to enroll to the Fall term?

Re: Anfield

Hi 三家姐,

My son is in the 11:00-1:00 playgroup for Monday, Wednesday & Friday. (sorry not the pre-prog. as I mentioned earlier).  The class is for babies between 18 to 27 months. Teacher's name is Robert.  Yes, I feel good to have only five kids in the class.

I am yet to make up my mind for the Fall Term.  I will not be able to bring him to the class for the Fall Term.  If I enrol him for the class, I have to ask my maid to bring him there which I don't feel comfortable as I live in Shatin.  Therefore, I may look for other playgroups in Shatin.

Re: Anfield

hi ahgooma,

Thanks for your reply.  I've just discovered that my son's playgroup class (sat) has 11 kids.  Some of them including my son are only 18 or 19 months.  I found that they don't even have enough space for all the kids to sit down during the circle time. Some parents/maids need to carry their kids sitting on the chairs.  Those kids of course cannot really enjoy the circle time with teacher.  I really think they should be aware of this.  By the way, I live in Sha Tin as well.  Do you have any idea of good playgroup nearby?

Re: Anfield

Hi 三家姐,

Yes, Saturday playgroup is very crowded for most of the time!!  But there shouldn't be more than 10 kids in the same class!?

I've heard about Lemon Tree, but have no idea about its quality and I have looked at its website, looked not so nice to me.  I think the reason that you have chosen Anfield is that you want to put your kid in an English.  If so, I am afraid that there is not many choices.

By the way, are you going to enrol your kid for the fall term?  I would like to enrol my kid for the fall term and am working out whether to enrol the Mon-Wed-Fri class for the Tue-Thu-Sat class.

You may PM me so that we could exchange our contact no. for a chat.
