你們的小朋友全都說流利英語嗎??

我囡現讀一間so called Internatioanl kindergarten..k1我本身好想囡囡將來去外國升學同希望佢英文打好基礎,所以比佢讀intn't kinder..我唔知我咁行呢條路有冇錯......因為現在係...我工人係印尼人,但講流利cantonese....唔用英文,so 我囡平時係屋企都講中文,而我地都係,因我地都只係一般local family..我有時都講英文(好少時間,因我怕自己accent唔太純正..唔想囡囡學!!)

我想知如果你地小朋友可說fluent English, 屋企係咪用賓妹會好d??我很想轉工人,可是我先生反對..因只因講英文而唔用佢好似好哀...但我現在覺囡囡好似2頭唔到岸....又覺得讀intn't school ...學貴好貴....又配合唔到一個全英文環境比佢..點先學好英文...呢??可以比d意見我嗎???

My kid only has 3 hours to practice her english in kindergarten (Mon-Fri). So it is hard to make her speak fluent english. I employ a Phil. maid. So she will has more chance to speak in english in the rest of the day. Now her verbal english is capable to pass the P1 entrance test of ESF's school. I believe to let your daughter to speak fluent english. You cannot just rely on school. If you can provide her a better english enivronment, surely it will helping her to develop the better english.

最近我同囡囡去健康院, 護士說最好教她單一語言, 免她混淆, 我菲傭會同囡囡說英語, 我們亦打算送她入國際幼稚園學好英語, 不過我都唔係好清楚, 應唔應該同她說廣東話? 但若不講, 何時講最適合?

My case is quite similar, my wife and me speak cantonese to my daughter. My maid speak english to her. Lucky (somehow is unfortunately), my wife and me need to work till very late everyday. Most of the time (almost aove 80-90%), my daughter speak to my maid rather than us. So she trends to speak in english more than chinese. She prefers to watch English Channel rather than Chinese Channel.
Besides the English DVD, if your kid like to watch cartoon, highly reommend to subscribe the cartoon network, disney playhouse channel, Bomerang or nicks channel from "NOW" TV. If she likes the animal, "Animal Planet" is a good choice too.

Surely, you have to speak cantonese to her. So she can learn both languages at the same time. Except you find her has difficulty to handle two languages at the same time.

In principle, learn one language must be more quicker than two. But learn two languages at childhood is much more easier and faster then when they growth up. So there is no harm to try, if the enivornment can be provided. Of course, you have to observe closely of your kid development.
I find my daughter and her classmates, most of them can handle both chinese and english at the same time without great difficulty.

So if I employ a philipino maid, would it be more efficient for my daughter to learn English?? I have 1 more daughter which is 1 years old... I am not sure at this stage since I don't know which way is good for my kids to learn 2 languages at the same time...

Besides, I found most kids which take care by philipino maid are mostly speak English quite well...and I believe that the best way for children learn the new languages easlier is at the earliest stage, like my 1 years old daughter.. her learning ability is better than her sister since she can speak some easy vocabulary like...dog, cat...mommy...

In my case, my daughter started bilingual at the BB stage.

Right (in general), but beware some Phil. maid speak terrible English. So make sure to employ a good english maid.

我有對孖b所以我請了兩個bun bun 回來照顧他們，其中一個原來識日文(她在日本住了16年)，另一個bun bun 說英語，我62，99同我媽咪同我兩個小朋友講中文(他們每星期來我家一至兩次)，我兩公婆同小朋友大部份時間講英語，雖然我們的英語不是很流利那種但與小朋友溝通完全冇問題。
我家小朋友接觸到的語言是 ：中文，英文，日文 同bun 與bun 交談既菲律賓語。
問題出現係我對b兩歲時，因為他們不太懂說話所以e生transfer佢地去見言語治療科，那邊的姑娘個個都要我改回單一語言對小朋友，因為他們覺得太多語言是導致他們不懂說話的原因。
我們沒有跟姑娘的建議去做因為我不能令我62，99同我媽咪講英文or bun bun 講中文or stop bun bun 之間的bun話。 另外我的想法是不要小看小朋友的吸收能力，當妳認為他們不會懂時原來他們已吸收了不少。最後我對b經過一年IS playgroup 後他們的說話能力已沒問題(原因是接觸多了小朋友及有多機會與其他小朋友說話)。
我的bun bun同我講當她們說bun語時我仔仔竟然識用英語插咀，所以請不要看小小朋友的吸收能力，雙語是絕對無問題的，再加上在bb時開始效果更理想!

我女兒亦是說兩種languages的，在家一定是全英語的，但出到去外邊就是中文..因為上學雖則是上國際學校..但小朋友太多都是說中文，故她在不知不覺間亦pick up到中文..在3歲前，她說話都是比較慢..有時詞不達意的..但在此之後，我發覺問題亦不大了..坦白的說不論在給她什麼的環境，她都有機會接觸中文..故我在家沒有刻意的給她說中文的..但她仍然學到講呢..

總之我覺得如果你唔介意你個小朋友在開始的一兩年說話比較慢，那咪得羅。

就單一語言呢個問題，我曾經問過好多人包括醫生，教師，大腦開發專家同健康院姑娘，綜合各方意見如不能全部人都用同一種語言同小朋友講野，就盡量同一人用一種語言，例如因62&99唔識講英文，佢兩老就同個女講廣東話，我同bun bun就同個女全部對話都用英文。如是者，我個女見到62 &99會自動用廣東話，見到bun bun 同我就會用英文，絶對無搞亂。

不過提一下，當我個女18個月大我要同佢準備考本地幼稚園，我轉番用廣東話同佢講野，真係有個時期約兩個月我個女對住我出現語言混亂，一句說話出現兩種語言，例如my balloon 飛away！That "siu punk yau" [小朋友]is very naughty.

Hello,

We speak to my son in Catonese from 0 - 2. Then we hired an Indonesian maid who speak English only. My son is studying in bilingual kindergarten ( Eng & Man ).  He is now 4 and able to speak fluent Cantonese, pretty good English ( His English teacher said he is one of few students can speak good english in his class, But he has picked up some Indoesian accents which I am trying to correct), some Mandarin ( his pronunciation is very accurate & but only able to speak short sentence / vocab  ). He is learning Japanese now.

In general, I don't see a big problem for kids to learn more than a language. It's just you need to spend a lot of time to follow up & practise with them
