Dear SPC parents,

my son got an offer for form 1 placement and we need to decide before friday if we take it and give up lucky draw.
i read the comments that SPC academic result is declining, which concerns me.
could you advise if the school has announced internally what is the HKCEE result, like how many As and percentage of student getting intot he big 3 university recently?

I have the same concerns as you.  My son also just got admitted.  I was originally aiming at band 1A schools from central place allocation for him.  Seems that SPC now is at 1C banding but it is too famous a school to resist. I'm very impressed with the comments and experiences shared by all the parents from this chatroom.

Some sharing with 2012 S1 parents,

As a parent of SPC boy, I would like to share some of my thoughts about the school.  The school has provided a very good platform for my boy and I am sorry to say that my boy has not been able to fully utilize what the school has provided for.  

Apart from academic curriculum, the school provides strong & committed supports to Other Learning Experiences, such as sport, music, community services, student association, clubs and uniform groups.  Good results is objective but not the prime one, the school uses those platforms to allow the boys to learn more about the society, and as an integrated part of the all-rounded education.

The school, her graduates and students are very committed to the society. You may not agree with me that this is a plus, but in my opinion this is increasing important to to-day's young generation to understand what they are facing both in HK & China or the world as a whole.  

One final suggestion and especially to mothers, please consider an uniform group, good element as a man.

你們好! 經過數番掙扎(主要都是spc的公開成績及別人口中學生會好”hea”)，但最後我們都選擇了SPC，我相信學校都不會置學生於不顧，希望我們是作了一個正確的選擇。我已經瀏覽了整個交流區，自己得到了很多資訊，更欣賞你們對學校給予正面的評價。但我仍然有些問題，不知你們可否為我解答?

我兒是讀中文小學，分班試中的數學科會否用英語?只考中英數?

2)
中一是否硬性規定要留校午膳?

3)
童軍或紅十字會若在中一不參加，是否不能在中二後參加?

4)
除了樂團，參加二至三項活動是否適中? 因有些學會可能没有那麼多的活動和集會?

5)
中一會有多少次和班主任見面以商討學生的表現?

6)  語文樂在哪兒? 是否教中文教得很好?

分班試衹考中英數； SPCPS 也是中文小学，所以大部份同學都是在同一起跑綫上。

2)
中一是否硬性規定要留校午膳?

不是。

3)
童軍或紅十字會若在中一不參加，是否不能在中二後參加?

可以但不一定收，同時因为很多訓練是有連貫性，最好在中一开始。

4)
除了樂團，參加二至三項活動是否適中? 因有些學會可能没有那麼多的活動和集會?

很多學生都有多过兩項活動，如果連 club 都一起計算，我孩子身邊的同學大都有兩項或以上。但也有人一項都沒有，專心一志讀书！

5)
中一會有多少次和班主任見面以商討學生的表現?

最少一次，但我家就有打电给班主任及個別科目老師的纪錄。
6)  語文樂在哪兒? 是否教中文教得很好?

不太明白问题。我孩子遇上的中文老師都OK。

多謝你的回覆。但我想知道分班試數學是否用中文巻? 另外，因交流區有家長推薦有一間語文樂補習中文很不錯，只知道在KLN。

My son and his classmates are B1b but both of them were put on the waiting list in the first round. So I think the competition is quite keen.

聖保羅書院的學生 -- my son is very happy to become one of them. He has been so excited about the good news since we rec’d the call from the college.

Just find another clip about the visual impairment student of SPC.   The school has prepared many supports and you can see from the clip that the school library has special corner for those students.  A proud tradition of the school and other boys can learn a lot from them.

hogwarts, thanks for sharing! How wonderful the experiences were! The “Flag Performance” impresses me most. I really like the “spirit” shared by the kids. Surely I will encourage my boy to join SPC Scout. But will it be an obstacle if my boy is completely green in scout?

No, no previous experience with scouting should not be a problem.  The main obstacle will be after joining the troop, boys need to spend almost every Saturday afternoon in the school.  You can check the Scout web-site for what they are doing in those afternoons.

Also, the troop leaders, very committed old boys of the school, will ask the boys to keep their academic ability in a reasonable standard and being too naughty will be discharged.
