hi~ 我想問下呢度有無ESF (Sheung Wan) 既家長?
我想知道學校大概有幾多班?

BBIX and Mone,

Same as you two my target primary school for my son is CWB ESF. My son is joining Toddlers (playgroup) class in Leapfrog now and I'm also checking out information on New Song. From what I heard from the school principal of New Song and Leapfrog, graduates from both school can almost all go to CWB ESF if they applied. If this is really the case, then I rather let my son going to New Song / Leapfrog than going to Abacus ESF.

Let's share your thoughts.

你囝囝而家幾大呀??  Leapfrog 我都有聽過, 但係對於我黎講實在遠咗少少, 不過, 有個同事個女都係讀 Leapfrog, 佢嘅評價都幾好架!  我哋啱啱同個女報咗 New Song, 因為知道佢哋出年會搬到沙角尾, 咁就會近番少少。 星期一去咗 visit 同埋交表, 覺得佢哋嘅模式同英基差唔多, 問過佢哋, 以去年嘅學生計, 都可以全部入哂  CWB School。 佢哋仲即刻 confirm 到個位比我個女, 所以, 我可以放下咗半舊心頭大石先!

My son is now 18 months and I'm looking for pre-nursery for him for next year. Is your collegue's daughter in Toddler / Rising 3's or Playgroup class at Leapfrog? I've been in their Toddler (age 1-2) class, it's actually just kids playing by themselves, nobody is teaching or guiding them except for the very last 15 minutes that they got a teacher coming in singing some songs and play together.
But from what I heard on the other day from the parents of Playgroup class (age 3-5), the quality of the teacher / class seems quite good, at least kids are learning alot from the school.

I'm in a dilemma now of choosing Leapfrog/New Song/Abacus ESF for K1.

我同事個女己經好大個, 而家讀緊 CWB Primary, 不過佢 kinder 就响 Leapfrog 度讀, 佢嘅評價都好好, 不過佢哋係外籍, 佢哋嘅 concept 係小朋友讀幼稚園同小學都係要以玩多為主好, 可能同多數嘅 local 都會好唔同。 所以, 你最好去睇真吓係唔係你想比你囝囝嘅先啦!  上次, 我哋去參觀 New Song 時, 佢哋都有比我哋睇過佢哋一個星期上堂嘅 timetable, 我同我老公都覺得 ok, 都算幾全面!  或者, 你可以試吓問佢哋攞佢哋嘅 timetable 黎睇睇, 之後先再作決定啦!

Thanks so much for your suggestion. I haven't thought of asking for school timetable for reference.

So which kindergarten are your little ones in now?

我個女仲未開始番學, 出年一月先開始, New Song 己經 confirm 咗個位比佢, 但係我哋都仲係好想 Abacus 會收佢, 因為會近好多, 五鐘車程, 如果番 New Song 就起碼要半個鐘。 你住西貢邊頭呀??  如果你住得近 country park, 番 Leapfrog 都唔錯喎, 嗰頭 d 空氣都清新 d 呀!!  對個小朋友都好 d!!

I'm on the opposite situation as yours. I live on Pak Tam Chung side, so either Leapfrog or New Song is still within 5 mins drive from home. However, if we're to consider Abacus, then it's almost 20 mins drive and my son would then need to take school bus.

However, I want to have the highest opportunity to get a seat (or interview chance?) at CWB ESF, so should I choose Abacus then? But according to what the school principal of New Song said, almost all of their kindergarten grads can go directly to CWB ESF so seems the same outcome. What's your comment on this?

My son is similar age as yours, are you taking your son to any playgroup?

其實如果我係你嘅話, 我諗我會比個小朋友讀 New Song 或者 Leapfrog, 因為話哂都近咁多, 咁細個人仔, 我成日都唔忍心佢哋日日咁撘車。 同埋, 好似你所講, 佢哋嘅學生升入 CWB Primary 嘅 % 都好高。 上次我哋 visit New Song 時, 個導師話佢嘅舊年差不多全部學生都入到, 有 d 係 first interview 之後就收咗, 其餘 d 入咗 waiting list, 但 end up 都收咗, 似乎個比率都好高, 同埋學費又平一大節。

我未同我個仔番 playgroup 住, 等佢十八個月大先, 而家佢家姐响坑口番緊一個 playgroup, 我覺得都幾好, 會同個女 keep 住番先, 到個女番幼稚園時, 個仔就夠大番 playgroup, 時間分配會好些少。 咁你有冇同你囝囝番 playgroup 呀?

1. do they teach Chinese?
2. what's the teacher : student ratio?
3. where's their location?
4. do they have website address?
