I was applied Bradbury (my home is in the neighbourhood) but finally my zoning should be grouped to QBS. How would you prepare for the interview? I don't have a clue.

How come? i live in HV and the school zone is bradbury. where do u live & which school is your boy studying.

I'm wondering if these could be granted interview first.

my daughter niether a native nor have siblings. She is just granted the 1st round of interview but it doesn't mean that she is in the 1st category.
she is studying in starters school.
did ur child apply esf school this year?

Ryanma & Mich: First of all, congratulations to your children in getting an interview! I've heard that other than the interview itself, ESF will also send staff to the kindergarten to observe how the child performs in school, is that true?

I just got the reply letter saying my daughter interview will be on the waiting list?!  I am shocked but after I read this forum, I know the game more....that why the lady in Beacon Hill School ask my daughter to study in an English medium school.

But I am query why government put so much funding to ESF, while they don't take much local student?

ESF schools originally are built for non-local kids many years ago, so they have set priorities.  Now govt has granted more land for ESF to build 2 more private schools - in Ma On Shan and Discovery Bay, which have to take at least 70% local kids.  So gradually starting 2006, more local HK kids will be switched to study in the 2 new private schools, which have more Chinese learning in Mandarin.

So Renaissance College and Discovery Bay College maybe alternatives for you.  Yet re reason of govt's funding, I also don't understand the rationale behind.

Just join this topic, and I am also interested to know. How long would it normally take from submitting ESF appl. form to interview.

I submitted both the Rennaisance and SJ in Sept this year and I got the reply from ESF, they need me to declare which is first choice then put me on the waiting list. My son is neither native nor esf sibling.

I don't like the school much. but my daughter likes the school very much. There is no regular/formal communication between teacher & parents except the mid term parents day. I never receive a single phone call from the teacher. they won't take the initiative to call you & update you about your kid's performance. BTW, the teachers & admin staff are nice. I know about my daughter's school work & activites only by their monthly newsletter.

I also heard that ESF will send teachers to visit the kinder before interview. But i haven't confirmed this with the kinder.

Oh, this is primary school already, not kindergarten, teachers (no matter local or international) will not call parents to update performance, if they call, maybe there is a problem.  If parents have questions or problems, we can call the teachers to discuss.

How does one know if it is the first round or second round interview?  Will the students being chosen to be in the first round interview get a higher chance of being accepted?

Is that every applicant will recevie letter from ESF, telling you you are either in waiting list or give you an interview date?  We apply SJS, still no letter received tonight. Please comfort me!!!  :cry:
