I think "成績" 與 "學校名氣" may not lead to 個人成就, many popular billionaires are not graduated from famous schools, but agree with Annie that "成績" 與 "學校名氣" are important for winning at least a job opportunity.  Language requirement of different jobs is also different. Success in career of course depends on the person's capability, character and sometimes luck.

The common problem of argument is always like that when someone proposes a theory, such as "if A then B".    Other peoples like to say it is so untrue because "some A do not imply B".  Some means all?  Many theories are just common sense, it is a waste of time to continue this kind of discussion. If "If A then B" is true for over 80% of the cases then we can treat this as true in most of the cases.  We may also assume other factors are equal.

Time and tide wait for no man/woman.

So, is there no such international school in HK that the Chinese level of their F.5 equivalent students can be up to a pass in HKCEE Chinese? Such as CIS, Yew Chung? How about Phoenix?

According to SCMP:

The English Schools Foundation aims to have daily Chinese classes in all its primary schools by 2007 in a major overhaul of the subject.

It is recruiting a senior education adviser to lead the curriculum reform and develop a coherent approach to teaching Putonghua across its 16 schools.

The action plan also aims to:

# develop leadership of Chinese within the ESF
# develop the Chinese curriculum at primary and secondary level
# provide more professional development for Chinese teachers to improve teaching and learning
# improve the supply of high-quality Chinese teachers through closer links with teacher training centres
# consider the place of Chinese in the wider curriculum

Let's wait and see, sooner or later all IS will become 真正學到中文的國際學校, this is the World trend.  While waiting, we should do something to polish up the Chinese standard of our children.

Hi CherylMum,

My son is trying the one in Cityone, this is organized by a group of tutors.  Some SJS students are studying there.  Some parents said they are good. My son has tried 3 sessions, it is too early to tell.  

A parent of my son's classmate has complained the after-school Chinese class for ignoring his daughter even though his daughter went under the desk.  Some other parents said the course is OK.  How about your daughter?  Does she like the class?

They are a group of private tutors, they rent an apartment in City One.  They teach Chinese in Mandarin.
