ESF Kindergarten (Tsing Yi)

Hi everybody,

    Is there any comment on the ESF Kindergarten (Tsing Yi)?  Is it very difficult to get admitted by it?  Are they still conducting selection interviews?  What should I do if I really want my son to get admitted by it?  My son is now 2.5 yrs old.

How about your girl now. Is she studying in ESF primary shcool?  Is it difficult to apply for ESF primary school?

I would like to know if there is a parking area for priviate car nearby Tsing Yi ESF kindergarten.   Is it necessary for parents to park in the shopping mall or airport express station if we want to pick up our kids by ourselves?

Yes, I think it's first come first serve.
Better to submit the form to the school when your kids reach two.   My younger son has successfully entered the school without interview too.

Thanks everybody!  I only submitted the form for my son in late August, but they started accepting applications since last February.  So, I'm afraid the chance for my son to get admitted may not be that great.  Precious, may I know how early had you submitted the form for your son?  When did they inform you that your son is admitted?

Hi 2R-mom,

My son was born in Feb and I submitted the form in April the year he was just two.  That's exactly one year before the admission.

Yes, the confirmation from school is rather late. We applied for the intake in April and we were just notified by the school in March.

Hi Yannass,

Tuition of ESF Kindergarten is:  HK$39,500.  ESF Schools have standardized fees.  For ESF primary, it's HK$47,300 and for secondary, it's HK$78,600.  

However, getting a place in ESF kindy doesn't guarantee your child for a place in ESF primary.

Is it possible to transfer from normal kindergartern to ESF Kindergarten?  Or they only accept student at age 3.  
Also, comparing to other international kindergartern or bilingual ( Eng & Mandarin) Kindergartern( my son is studying in Sunshine House Int'l preschool), is the standard of English higher in ESF kindergarten?
I am considering to apply the ESF primary school for my son. I am not sure if I need to transfer to ESF Kindergarten or not.
Also, I would like my son to learn more Mandarin. I think ESF Kindergarten only teach little Mandarin a week. In Sunshine House, they teach 20 min a day.

i am very interested in this kinder. and really want to send my son to ESF.  they have no interview, so i am wondering how do they choose the applicant? is it hard to get in this kinder.?

im living in Tung Chung, just 1 station to Tsing Yi  by travelling  the MTR, can anyone tell me what are their procedure of choosing the kid??

Hi Hera,

My son is studing in the 2 year old class. I can give you the good & bad comments of this school ( personal feeling).

Good.
1. The school environment is good. This is very clean and new. It has outdoor playground.
2. The class room is also very nice & colorful. They posted all the artworks & photos of the kids.
3. The class size is small. My son class is less than 10 kids I think.
4. It is bilingual. They teach Mandarin class everyday (20 min each time).
5. It close to my home.
6. Last but not the least, my son is very happy to go to school....he even insists to go to school last time he was sick.

Bad
1. The communication between school & parent is limited. They only have a weekly letter for parent in their dariy book.
2. They don't teach Chinese hand writing. This is the reason I am looking for other kindergarten for my son.
3. I think they are not strong in acedamic. They claims the kids learn from playing. I am not sure about higher level.

I hope this can help. If you are considering for prenursery. This is not a bad choice in Tung Chung.
