Worries about students' discipline and value judgement at international school?

I am anxious about our children's conduct and value judgement while attending international school.  In USA and Canada, children start to 'date' very early, e.g. grade 6 and have sex very early.  Teen pregnancy is quite common.  Some children even try drugs.  "Grass" seems to be quite common and is regarded as a "mild drug", not so serious.

Any comment?  Thanks.

Hi mrsphcheung,

It is not only happen in international school but also in local school in Hong Kong and also anywhere in the world.
Have you seem any article from Hong Kong newspaper sometimes say that a new born baby being found in the street/ in the public toilet? or some even worse is that the mother (a teenager) throw her new born baby out of the window? The worsest thing is their parent even don't know their daughter being pregnant?
So I believe we should not always depends on school only but we should do more afford at home, talk more to our kid and try to understand more from their side. Relationship between parent and kid is very important.
I seldom contact American or Canadian, so don't know what you said are really correct or not. As for me, I would have more contact with European ie. English, German, Spanish, but what I heard that they are not that open as what we guess.

一個孩子如果行為不良，通常人們都說小孩沒家教，從來不會說沒校教．家教者，即是家人的教育．教育不止學業，德育亦重要．父母把小孩管得不好，不論他在那類學校都會出現品格問題．父母向小孩循循善誘，就算就讀一所很多壞學生的學校，亦會出於污泥而不染．

Dear all,
I know some negative sides about the teenagers in the USA and Canada as my family members live there.  I strongly agree that family education is the most indispensable element in bringing up a child.  As responsible parents, we must keep close and good relationship with our children so that they feel that their parents are ready to help them when they grow up (like me, I call my mum frequently although she resides in USA).  I also agree that bad schools may have good students.

Some local Chinese schools are even worse.  Most members here had expressed their views.  A warm and comfort family will offer our children to share their value to you.   I don't have such worry to my children.
