我對b今個9月升k1我都打算送仔女去讀公文中文，但唔知讀公文中文最低年齡要幾歲？ 3歲可以嗎？

我小囡5.5 y, 已公文中英數三科約一年, ok !
因IS 始終不是很多功課, 希望基本打好d 啦!
學校是用普通話 , 所以學公文中比較容易D !

I don't like Kumon, it's just repeating work, typical HK style, make you remember the hard fact without thinking.

thanks for info, sunrain. can you pls share more how they teach chinese? i understand Kumon likes to ask kids to repeat the math very much. they are doing similar calculation every day. what about the chinese class? what has yr daughter accomplished in chinese after studying there for 1 year? sorry for so many questions.

My girl will be 6 and she is studying Y2 at ESF.
We quitted Kumon Maths last month after 1 year of study.

My son is 10 yrs old.  He has been studying Kumon Chinese since he was 5. Although doing exercise repeatedly is Kumon's way of teaching, it works well for my kid.

Like yours, my son is studying in IS, his Chinese standard in reading, speaking and writing is higher than his classmates averagely speaking.  By doing Kumon chinese homework everyday, he is able to keep up his chinese standard. I think the way of repeating (similar kind of homework but not exactly the same) is to reinforce the skills or concepts before progressing to a higher level.

My son has made promoising progress, he is now studing the material for Secordary school which means he is 2 school year level advanced.

However, I need to remind you that, be prepared for the resistance from their kids, particulary when they reach the levels require many writing.  Writing chinese drives the kids of IS crazy, especially young kids of IS have no writing, or very little, different from HK local schools) In that case, your patience, love and encouragement are pretty important if you want them to persist in studying Kumon chinese.

We have struggled at an acceptable level with my son over the past years, but now, he fully understands doing Kumon homework is his everywork and he will do it without reminding in most of the time.

May I know when's the earliest/best age for kid to start Kumon Chinese?

do they first start with writing simple words? are they good for kids who hasn't had any chinese learning?

I've no idea about the Chinese level of P4/P5 students in local school, but his school (RCHK) is using P4 Chinese textbook and exercise book.  He can definitely read chinese story books in P5/P6 or a bit higher standard.  His level of writing is in normal level, just something forgot how to write a word, some hints are needed.

When my son started Kumon when he was 5or 6 yrs old, he began with something really really simple.  they mainly focus on the pronuciaton and 拼音 which is important and benefical for the kids before going futher.  拼音 is very important for speak good Mandarin whcih should be trained when they are small (I guess 5yrs old). Actually Kumon's method is repeated exercise, they need do it over and over before they progress to the next stage, something is boring but it helps.

Joining Kumon has strengthened my son's understanding of chinese words and 成語.  Practicing  kumon gives him daily chances of writing or reading or listening to Chinses, more or less is better than nothing.

My son just finished the assessment of 公文中, he is 5 years old, he meet the 4A level, but the teacher want him to start at lower level 5A.
Please tell me which level should my son start ?

my sister told me the school normally will ask the kids to start at a lower level because it will be easier for them and they will be happier with their success. Also it can help the kids to stronger their strength and concept. So usually it is recommended to join the lower level.

Hi,I agreed with Gwan,Kumon is not really that good ! My boy was with them for a while,he didn't
show much progress.So is for Maths !
Always repeating work,force everything into their
mind by repeating work !

我問過港島區一間中心, 個老師好老實話我知,公文數不鼓勵思考,無算式,靠的係反復練習後對條的"條件反射",一見到條題,就知/想起答案.

通常第一年會低於本身學年, 等小朋友熟習公文思維, 到第二年會平學業水平甚至超前, 第三年------哈哈, 班中精英!

個老師要我考慮清楚, 半途而廢會好可惜, 但通常放棄的就係挨佐就來一年又未有佳績睇.....

我老友個仔四歲學公文數, 五歲學埋珠心算, 雙管齊下,(仲有中文) 依家小二, 已經識帶分數加減, 最大公倍數.....之類

睇到她的仔,我口水都流埋.

問她有乜法寶? 細個時做公文,擺個藤條係隔鄰....依家唔使了, 自動自覺, 學校數學精英, 得獎頻頻, 全級第三(竟然有人仲勁).

只要堅持, 總有出頭日, 我太懶了, 亦郁唔到手, 算罷啦
